Just found out the hard way. :'(
Had an open bag in my garage, only 2 months old but went to change resin at weekend and it was fecked.
tds was higher coming out than going in.
Had to sling 3/4 bag and dash to local supplier this morning before starting work.
Never knew it could go off so quick, does anyone know what happens to it to make it go like this ?

Don't know what happened there, maybe left slightly open so something in the atmosphere got in there?
I bought my resin beginning of January (from Gardiners) to last me 12 months, still fine now. Bad batch?

I have had a bag opened for last 6months still good ???

I bought a bag of tulsion 3 1/2 years ago. I change resin approx once a year and still have one change left for next year. Once used the bag is double bagged as it was supplied originally, sealed back up with zip ties as it was originally, and stored in a dark room.
Actually the last (3rd change) was 18 months after the 2nd change. After about a year the tds after di rose to 1ppm and then dropped back to zero. Then suddenly the water ppm after di rose to 5ppm with the input before di at 3ppm from the r/o. That jump forced the change.

That's what I do also.

i usually have an open resin bag for up to 4 months before i use it up too...
i store my resin in the original bag and just fold it up and keep it in my (darkened)storage space.....

I've had a bag open by a big rip for about 5 years used some the other month it was fine bringing water to 0ppm

Thankfully I've not used resin for over a year or so now. I fill up the ibc tank straight from RO at 006.
When I did use resin, I kept it folded in a bag and inside a large container with a lid on and that seemed to last a while.

So you don't use pure water then?

Nope, I use pure water with a tiny weenie little tds in
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
So, is 000ppm pure or is 000ppb pure.
Worth a thought before being pedantic

I thought we’d been told that resin is a type of plastic. If that’s the case I can’t see how it would go “off”???

I don't know the reason why but it was open and not in a dark place so won't be doing that again.
I've always sealed resin and put in a cool dark place but just thought it'll be reet

I empty mine into a tub with a lid that seals tightly shut, when I go back to it it’s as dry as sand,my RO always reads around 3-4 if I change filters regularly so it has to last at around a year or so.

I got some from Unger years ago and I kept the tub it came in.
