Could your next of kin access your cp on your laptop? Could they deal with the taxman, have you been 100% honest with your accounts? Would they know your customer list? Would they know the value of your round and know how to sell it?
Or wouldn’t you give a toss anyway? ;D

No, no and no

This is something i have thought a lot about since losing a few young ( 35-45 ) customers to cancer.
Which is why in my spare time I'm creating a operations manual covering every part of the business so if i wasn't around my wife could still put food on the table and pay the bills

I’d care. Well, not after obviously. ;D
I had a fairly major health scare (large abdominal mass that eventually got diagnosed as a renal cyst) and almost my first thought was to worry Mrs8weekly might not be able to plan all the work.

My mrs will get a nice big lump sum and a monthly payment until the youngest kid is 18. I think that’ll do her
-
no probs here - she runs the place ::)roll
there's life insurance for the kids - if they knew they would probably help me kick the bucket :-\

scary thought. :o

No use to me once I'm gone so no wouldn't give a toss.
It's only some goodwill and a handfull of names .
Now if I was a VAT reg business with multiple employees I may think differently, then I would have a legitimate business.

What a lovely thread ;D
I've got a solar panel job to do tomorrow I wonder if its like final destination :o :o
I've got various plans in place in case of this but tbh Id be dead so I probably wouldn't care.

I do have a customer list, but need to update it. As far as the taxman is concerned, she wouldn't know what to do just rimg my accountant. I have someone intetested in one of my rounds, and she gets a very nice lump sum

You started training them on wfp yet?
What a lovely upbeat thread this is and without saying what your plans are.

It’s sonething I’ve given loads of thought to but haven’t really acted on.
Relationships with commercial customers, isas, savings accounts, Wills, savings in random accounts, holidays that are booked and paid for etc etc
I need to get switched on in this department really.

It's a good topic.

As far as I’m aware none of my family can access my records, business banking details, nobody has a clue who my commercial customers are, so they wouldn’t be informed. There’s value in the round if they knew what it was but nobody would. Be one hell of a mess to sort out. Even with my bank details I doubt the banks would play ball as it’s all in my name.

You ve probably got another 30 years left yet if your lucky Dave.....so not to worry you'll be retired by then...
If u get diagnosed with a terminal illness then u can tell your missus passwords and business info....

Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes.
I wouldn't be bothered once I was dead as once you're done everything's over bar the decomposition. However, I'd be upset now if I thought my death would cause them more financial misery than necessary (though that misery would be softened for them by their joy at not having to see me every morning).

Sorted out my customer list and told the wife,,, showed her the list and she said" what you done that for?"I said so you can tell everyone if owt happens to me. She replied she wouldn't bother telling all my customers, they could just read my obituary in the paper, like I see theirs. I have someone who wants to buy one of my rounds, so he needs the list if he still wants it when Im gone or if I give up windows

What if you died on the first of April? Would anyone believe you?
Would you have to wait til after twelve to be confirmed dead?
Would customers believe that you were dead and not joking?
I suppose it'd be handy for the tax year though.

I can picture it already black with "only to be opened in the event of my death" :o
