We have all gardiners poles and wouldn't buy anything else. We usually only buy slxs but have bought a few clxs lately but only the 18s and 22s. Want a 45 ft to 50 foot pole and dont really fancy the maintenance on the extreme. My question is , are the super max any good for weight and rigidity?

Supermax do a job, but you need to be directly straight up with it extended cos its heavy and cumbersome
Its also too whippy for solar panels etc
I've got a 47 supermax and it's lasted me 6 years, good for what it does but a bit limited
If you're using a big pole regularly I'd be tempted by an extreme if you can afford it.

Must admit though that I'd be tempted by the s/max 45 on offer at £490 in the sale at the moment

At 45/50ft you need an Xtreme IMO. My Xtreme 47 is about 5/6 years old and still going strong. You will regret buying any other pole the minute you lift it up at 45ft!
That's my honest opinion from experience, the extra cost will repay you many times over.

With Extreme 47...my tip is take the first pole or 2 off the extreme as they break so very easy, save them for emergency reach, use the thicker poles as they are also more rigid, drop even more weight, for high work add 3 extensions as they real fat, cheaper and super light, plus use slx all day :)

If it’s regular work, then go for an xtreme, I use my xtreme 47 plus 1 extension section once a month, every month for a block of apartments.
Trust me, if it’s regular work, you’ll want the xtreme. It’s not fun using a pole at that height at the best of times, let alone without the best pole.

The extream 47 is ok , but the ultimate is stiffer and better in any breeze but is a bit heavier and oviously dearer

We had a few xtreme snap at high level so replaced with the Ultimate poles, yes a bit heavier but much easier to use and move about and some times when working at 50-60 ft you need a bit of weight on the pole to make cleaning possible other wise the brush head just bounces of the glass

I bought a supermax 45 3k for 4 storey work despite having an extreme pole because the extreme is a lovely pole to use at height but it is not ideal working in strong gusty side winds, bends and gets moved with the wind too much. Use to use an SL 2 modular the lightest pole going which is perfect when there is little wind but a pain in the backside having to collapse down in windy conditions. With an extreme pole I would only use the lightest brushes but with a supermax I can get away with using heavier brushes for more scrubbing power.
