Title: How long should my resin last
Post by: jonny thompson on April 02, 2019, 01:10:42 pm
It’s going into the resin with a reading of 15, I’m using around 2500 litres a week,I’m getting a reading of 000 after the resin for about 5 weeks before it starts creeping up to 2-3, does this sound about right
Thanks in advance

A full bag of resin should do you for about 30,000 litres at 15 input

Having said that , with resin the way it is these days it’s hard to say .
I was always told that 500,000 divided by the TDS was how many litres of pure a full bag would get

Sounds about right. Mine goes in at 14 and I usually get 5-6 weeks before it creeps up to 2-3. That's using a 7 litre resin vessel and Unger resin.
Remember to give it a good shake and you can normally get a few more fills out of it.

How big a vessel are you using as this can have an impact.

yes , as chris turner said ...give it a good shake . usually get a few more days.
another thing I have noticed is that a slower flow rate through the di makes the resin last longer, I have no idea why.
I put pure into my tank so am able to do this ...

Double Di is the key here. When the one still has lots of capacity the other can polish it to 0. So making the second last longer at 0

Hi Jonny, are you still using your RO? Your tap TDS will be lower than 100? 15 does sound a high input from RO to DI. I’ve not changed my resin for 16 months, it’s been sat at 002 for ages. What is your tap water pressure?

Pressure is ok bungle , cleaning wharehouse told me if ro is getting it down to 15-16, then don’t bother changing it, , I might see how long it lasts at a reading of 2-3
