I don’t know if it’s just me but I find once a pole is over 6 months old. And especially after winter where I’ve been wearing gloves, it’s hard to get used to gripping the pole and causes some forearm pain. It’s odd Cus I’m not a lad with chicken thin arms either. Using SLX poles
Has anyone found this issue themselves or a solution to make the base section of the poles a little more grippy?

Don’t death grip your riding your grips and burning your forearms , relax your hands and finger grip

Wear gloves with a good soft rubber type grip, you will find you use less strain as the hold the pole better, beware them wearing smooth, when they do get a new pair out.

It’s trying to balance pole not spinning with a firm grip. Using a swivel at the top of the pole for most work and this increases the need for grip.
I was hoping for a solution that avoided gloves for summer. Over time the pole base sections almost become glossy smooth

I had the same issue a few years back. Take a look at this thread:

A good grip tip which is a stronger grip than normal but is easier is to grip with all your pressure through the thumb and middle finger
-
I buy cheap builders gloves and cut the finger tips off, works for me all year round

I’ve seen gloves exactly like this in Aldi sometimes I’ve always thought to get them and just never have

Could the swivel be to blame ??
All that extra movement in the wrists is going to tire them surely ?

I don't really grip the pole , I cup the base of the pole in the palm of my hand.

I think that could be it too.
With a swivel you are constantly twisting your wrists and using your forearm muscles. You. would think that you would get used to it mind you, but Mayb try without for a Month or do and see how it goes.

Try the Ova-8 pole, apparently better on the hands for the grip

Get rid of it in less than a week I put up with it for 2 years and thought this is the end of me here, hands out in front of you palms up as if you were going to carry something arms straight, take one hand and pull fingers back towards you and hold a good stretch for 10 seconds.
Make sure it’s a proper stretch repeat other arm, first of all massage the insides of the forearms first to loosen them up,if you do this for a week and it doesn’t go I will be very surprised,do each stretch 10-15 times per arm.

Another good one is to make a fist , place the thumb part of it on forehead then gently move the fist back and forth several times .
It works wonderfully for me !

Anyone suffering from ulnar nerve pain try this one of mine also it works wonders, with WFP you need to stretch the tendons over time they get very tight especially if you over grip or are new to WFP.
Like I say I went to every therapist I could then one day I spoke to this old girl the hippy type, she showed me this and after a week it was sorted.
Now I just make sure I stretch every few weeks to prevent this happening.

There is no need to grip a pole tightly. If using a swivel and it moves too freely, tighten it up so it's not so loose or have the jet hose just the right length that it springs back to central if using 4-6 jets so pole doesn't spin too easily. Only time need to tighten grip is when there is a strong side wind above 30ft
