Post by: hotsteam on March 03, 2019, 07:42:56 pm
Any one going to the cleaning show ?

Only 3 suppliers,  Ionic, Moerman , and Streamline, is it really worth the journey  ::)roll ::)roll ::)roll

I didn't even think about it, and nope. Who wants to waste time walking around looking at overpriced snake oil, leave it to the wfp newcomers, the more money they waste on flashy gear the less profit they will make and realise that the monthly payments are crippling them and give up in 4 years.

Now...i was at the Carol Nash bike show weekend before last, now that was worth it, and I'm test riding a BMW s1000r on the 20th.. now that IS fun. ;D

It’s a big fat NO from me.

Never needed to walk around looking at products. I’ve managed this far without going, so won’t ever go.

Seems pretty pointless to me. Then again, I’ve learnt that there are some very bored window cleaners out there 🙄

I’ve travelled to the last few window cleaning shows. A day out with a fellow windy mate and I got about £200 off a guttervac last time. Met Kev Martin off here too (so not all good   ;D ).

I wouldn’t be interested in a general cleaning show though.

Been to 2 of marks cleaning shows in stoneleigh.  They were interesting and if your in need of some equipment then its good to see and feel them before buying and getting a discount on them as well.

I reckon if your a newbie and went with someone who knows window cleaning, be it trad or wfp, then its a good way of seeing them all in one place and by having someone experienced with you, they wont waste their cash.

Apart from that, its quite boring really. I wont be going to any more.

I think I will go this year, for a specific reason...

I’m due a new car in 9 months (lease runs out) and I have a problem I’m sure many window cleaners have faced before; I like having a van for work, and a separate vehicle that can carry passengers for the weekend etc. Now I am almost at the point of needed to put another vehicle on the road and taking on an employee.

So, I would really like to have the work van as it is, but also a work vehicle for me that can double as a car. Crew vans are no good, don’t leave enough room for the tank etc plus I don’t like them.

I think that Ionics de-mountable portage system might be the solution. That way I can get a double cab pickup and have the system on the truck bed. I can use that vehicle for work and leisure. For work I can use it for window cleaning and to go for quoting etc but also use it as a car when not working.

I can also remove the system completely when going on holiday etc so can use the truck bed.

The only thing I am slightly unsure about is how poles will fit in, so I would like to see the system for myself and have a play with it. I’m assuming Ionics will have one at the show.

Do you have a fork lift at home? I keep getting drawn to them but every time I look I just can’t see they are big enough. Single cab yes but double?

There is no softwashing companies going to the London Show they are all saving themselves for my show pretty much like most of the window cleaning suppliers as well

The London cleaning show is more than just an exhibition of cleaning products, its also a fantastic opportunity to network with other people in the industry.

I have been going for many years and every time i always meet at least one or two people that are useful to me in my business.

Your pretty lucky really!   I usually charge for a personal audience ;D.

You lot need to think it through before dissing shows.   Stoneleigh is a great Central Location with easy access and virtually no charges.  In my mind all shows and exhibitions are very useful as long as they are relevant to you.  If I  had my way,  I too,  would much prefer to spend a weekend at a Country Fair taking part in a shooting competition or a classic car show, but remember!......... The  people who organise these shows work very hard,  without the exhibitors there wouldn’t be a show!  You get to see the latest kit, network with like minded people , colleagues and friends and generally just a good catch up.  So my opinion is, enjoy them while you can and support the organisers, as the only other option is the internet and you can’t touch, feel and play with the kit online can you? ;D

I believe the problem is that the cleaning show does not appeal to most w/c's unless they are large concerns with say office cleaning involved in the day to day .
I do no other work but windows so I do not wish to look at carpet machines , chemicals , floor scrubbers or bin wash trailers !
Mark M's show is pretty much all window related , sure there is add on stuff , but its way more tailored to the average w/c needs .
If I go to a show it will be Marks , all I want to handle is stuff from Xline, Gardiner,Exceed,Facelift,Ova8,and a few others , being as Streamline is on my doorstep I need not worry about them so much  ;)

All the above will be at Marks , not so at the Big Show !

Absolutely right!
Due to this its also a great way to get advice if you are venturing into add ons as well.   In addition if a good way to meet up and put faces to names and have a pint or 2  ;D (whilst we argue our differences out 😂😂)

Just seen that the cleaning show is in London (not Birmingham).

Forget that, I won’t be going after all.

I’ll wait for one of Ionics roadshows instead.

What idiot decided to move it? I think we now have the answer as to why hardly any suppliers are going.

Excel is in my opinion one of the worst locations to hold a show.  Unless you live directly in London it is very difficult to get to.  Furthermore,  not that it will bother any of you Window Lickers, the dates  clash directly with the Conrete Show in the NEC.  My advice is  go to  Marks at the NAC in Stoneleigh in September, it will have more exhibitors and be a better show and a lot less expensive for all the peripheral costs.
