Not been here for a good few years now.
Need to keep my pole on top of the van after a change of interior. What’s the best and safest way ?
Anyone done this ? Got a picture ?

I used to do this until some scrote had it away while I was out of direct view , only went to get £4 off an old dear , only blessing is that it was only an Xtel Hybrid ;D

Years ago I made a pole carrier. It was plastic down tube / soil pipe . I glued an end cap one end and had a screw on cap the other.
On the end with the screw cap I cut a slot approx an inch wide and deep enough to allow the angled goose neck and brush to slot in and the end cap to be screwed back on. It was bolted to roof bars with exhaust style "U" bolts.. Very diy but did the job. I suppose if security is an issue you could look at a lockable rhino tube carrier but they are quite pricey and I wouldn't want to go hacking one up to get a gooseneck and brush to fit.

If you wanted to save yourself the grief of what I described above, something like this would be cheaper than a rhino tube and being plastic would be easy to cut / adapt for gooseneck and brush ;)

Such a useful comment ;D
If he can't fit the pole inside his van what choice does he have ? a pipe tube will certainly look better than it bungied to side of his roof rack. It wouldn't be my choice either but if needs be....

personally i think some of you buy a van then think later.... ::)roll ;D
ALWAYS buy a van with a high(ish)roof so you can get your pole holders inside the van, second make sure the payload is high enough for your size of tank.....thats it...... ;D

And get one that doesn’t leak diesel, and if you do make sure you can reach the leak without taking half the van apart on a set of ramps 🤪🤪😂😁🤪

You will change your mind on that like you did with wfp back on the day dazmond (I remember)
Anyway it’s a transporter, currently carry’s ladders and poles inside the van no problem.
However I’m changing the interior to go from a 2 seater to 5 seater and want the pole and ladders outside so I don’t wreck my interior.
Looks like a tube on the roof rack it is. Will only be the one pole I use anyway so security isn’t an issue.
Thanks Guys

Years ago I had a 3m pole tube bolted onto roof rack of van and cut a four inch slot for the gooseneck to slide down it so I wouldn't have to take the brush off during the day time use. Fitted it so the brush pointed upwards to clear the barn doors opening and closing. End of day would padlock the pole carrier. Think it was a Rhino pole carrier.

At the end of the day it looks pikey, unless you’re brush is brand spanking new when I’ve seen this on vans it looks awful imo,
It can be compared to a painters van with ladders on top completely covered in old paint.

I don't think he s bothered about what it looks like.....as long as it's practical.....

Are you for real ::)roll

I see quite a few trad cleaners with a pole tube on their roof racks with a brush poking out, maybe converting slowly from trad to wfp . they have to start somewhere.

Ionics commercial brush poking out so guess I must have been a posh pikey :)

Why not just angle the gooseneck upwards and take the brush off.
Takes 10 seconds.

or leave the brush on, what does it matter ?
Oh yeah, I forgot , someone I've never met said on the internet it looks pikey :'(

I was thinking more practicality, rather than looks.
If you took the brush off, angled the gooseneck upwards and used the tubeless pole hose system, then you could get a lockable roof pipe carrier and keep the pole in the carrier overnight. Hopefully fairly secure.

Only joking ;)
I see what you mean, no need to then cut a groove in the pipe carrier as no brush and the angled gooseneck is straightened out so the cap can be screwed or locked on. The simple solutions are often overlooked :)
