Trouble is Daz , you got too much W/C porn on show mate  ;D ;D

I just turn up with my 6 year old van that has cold seats , mirrors ,and a frosty windscreen , then I open the side door to reveal my poor mans L5 heater , the custies come out throwing money at me !!

Last week I got £67 in tips from 2 houses next door to each other , I have had loads this year ,  it just has not stopped coming , even my onliners are mostly paying double , I just put it down to the fact that I am such a good window licker  ;D ;D ;D

do you guys spend time having a chat with them throughout the year??

we have quite  a bit on direct debit, never see them, never speak to them...not expecting a tip either haha

If anybody is home I will converse a bit , why wouldnt you ?
But I dont spend all day chatting thats for sure , few words and on my way , its just nice to have that little bit of contact , I dare say if you add up all the time that you chat then it would be an eye opener as to what you could have earnt in that time , but if you get a tip then all that time is sort of paid for , money for yapping is better than money for working in my eyes !
I dont expect tips , I dont really want them , I would much prefer that people got me other work or paid asap .
Cashflow is king over tips anyday  ;)

Most of my round is bacs so don't get much these days..few years ago I got around 500..but I had a lot more messers and slow payers back then..

I'm just happy earning a half decent wage and getting paid on time  8)

So you're on £265 Daz
You do 2 hours x 12 in a year collecting
You'd be better ditching the collecting and making them all pay online and getting NO tips ;D
Just think how much better off you'd be if those 24 hours were on the glass instead of collecting

BTW I'm on £40 so far🙄
ZERO collecting though, so I'm quids in really

Somewhere in the region of about £50 which is my best year yet. Last year was about £20 year before £10

No I never tip anyone, they get paid a wage already. I also never expect tips, I'm always surprised if someone gives me anything

i often tip all sorts of low paid workers, waiters and waitresses (if ive had good service),my barber at xmas and postman.....

i think it goes back to when i was a kid (and my dad was a milkman)i used to go out delivering hampers with him back in the mid 70s and he always got a fair few tips off his customers....

In 20 years plus of window cleaning my tips were always about £100 and the odd bottle of wine or tin of biscuits. However I have never gone back to collect.

In the last 5 years as I have more and more gone over to on line payments this has reduced tips even further. So it's always been rather insignificant but always appreciated.

So far this year tips have been £26.00! And looking at my work ahead until Friday I see a potential of about another similar amount.

I have two customers who always give me gifts and Friday it was a bottle of red wine and yesterday a wrapped up gift which was a pot of special M&S duck liver, port and butter pate which I shall use on toast at about 10.30 for a late breakfast.

Yum!

Blimey Daz, do you churn out the same post every year? I must have read the same story at least ten times now. Whatever happened to “record day today”?

I always tip when in a restaurant, takeaway, etc.

These days I get hardly any tips as 80% of customers pay online.

I’ve had about £40 so far.  :'(

Years ago when I used to work with a family friend, we used to pull in £7-800. But back then it was pretty much all cash and lots of older people.  No one paid online, and we went ‘collecting’ (remember those days!) so people would tip a fiver or tenner, sometimes more.

Completely different these days.

Does dragging your 4yr old boy n 2 yr old girl dressed as elves count 😂😂

But no, i dont, head down and crack on which allows for breaks sometimes where you can have a pleasant chat with the custie and possible coffee
