Title: Can anybody recommend a DIY system installer
Post by: Crystal-clear on December 01, 2018, 01:39:19 pm
Basically does anybody know anyone who charges a reasonable amount of money to install or revamp a current system a bit like this guy I came across on YouTube https://youtu.be/wYkZnV0wiWQ

I want to basically make things easier and change things around and probably get a new van I want it all done really good and really don't fancy paying £3,000 for essentially a pump and a tank. Also don't want to pay VAT on service

So yeah are there any handy window cleaners out there that fancy earning some money. Or anyone that does this in their spare time for a fair price.
I find all the marketing companies really charged way too much for labour even the smaller kind of individuals I asked them to breakdown the Labour and the parts and they don't like it because the labour is over £1,500.
Unfortunately I'm crap at DIY I really am I !

just get your local garage to install your tank and frame.....my garage charged me £80 to bolt my tank in......the rest is easy....

surely you can plumb in a pumpbox and bolt a reel down?job done......

i use a piece of plastic covered plywood to bolt my reel to(so im not drilling through the van floor) at the back of my tank and i have plastic load liner down on my van floor so no need for protectacote/speedliner,etc.....

Why not try a local garage. A decent mechanic should have the necessary skills to fit tank, connect some hose and complete a simple wiring job.

I got a quote from Grippatank to do some work and they wanted £250 or more. Local garage did the work for £60.

Only just noticed post from Daz

Thanks for the posts.
Basically last time I used a company local to me to basically add an extra pump a switch some plumbing work some further ratchets and charged me a stupid amount of money I don't want to say to be honest with you because it makes me look like a mug...
The problem of using a handyman or a garage is there not window cleaners. I want to explain how most of my work is lots of small jobs you know there's two fronts there's full houses need to have easy access to the hose reels on all directions on a make sure everything is watertight and pretty a mechanic doesn't really know how he work.

So yeah I would like to have some numbers I don't mind paying to be honest with you a few hundred so it's not like I'm being a really tight git just don't fancy being ripped off and paying 2 Grand labour
With the vat. Also it's on going because you obviously have little issues sometimes with systems like pumps falling off needing to be re screwed things like that or connections messing up or just simply needing to change things around it's handy to have someone that's not too far away who won't rip you off.

Why not advertise for a general handyman with good recommendations?

Must be something on you tube to watch how it's done.  Ask  in a garage is your best bet unless you know any window cleaners who have fitted their own. It's best to learn yourself, then you don't have to rely on others and have a better understanding  if something goes wrong with your system.

Oh how kind really appreciate it mate used to live up north years ago but it's the thought that counts.

I'm in South West London North Surrey areas
So realistically going about an hour each way is doable!
Can be reached on crystalclear.inbox@gmail.com

There is a guy on the facebook pages called Lee Martin at Bladeright.  He fits systems at his base, but also does a home setup service.  He quoted me £300 for a day rate to fit a system if you supply everything.  He can also supply everything you need.

Do it yourself,

seriously it is not as hard as you think, all you need is a drill and a basic tool set of spanners and ratchets, you can buy nuts bolts and washers yourself, you need some electrical connectors (butts and rings) and a crimping tool, a splicing tool and some cutters,

thanks for the kind comments,

The tank frame and tray were manufactured by empf in Oldham to my specification, installed by myself,

You don’t need to get someone to sort your set up for you, you can do it all yourself

The black hose is the breather for the tank, so when water is drawn out by the pump air is drawn in, the other hole in the centre of the tank is for the immersion heater, it’s not fitted in the picture

Basically mate my main van which is a to system van just needs hose reels screwed on it needs waterproof show removal of the wooden floor  and painting water doesn't go into the cabin and things like that General tidy up. I would just prefer to pay someone via BACS transfer something reasonable for their time on the weekend obviously so it doesn't bother the work for them.
My next system is going to be something like yours which would be in a citroen Dispatch most likely.
I can see that you live in Staffordshire that said
I would still probably drive there if it was a brand new system that you would install and pay you

It's nice of you to offer help visual and guidance is better than nothing even though I'm useless it might just help me get I disagree in gear drop me an email or give me an email or number hopefully chat soon

If you need, I can give you the number of the guy in the unit next door to the one we've just moved into. He's a fabricator and will be doing my next van. In Newbury on the old Greenham airbase.

You’ve said you know nothing about there mar systems how there installed or how they work, you will need to learn because if you have no ideas on how these work even if it’s a pump battery controller there will be things that crop up that you’ll need to be able to fix-diagnose.
Putting a tank into a van is the easy bit.
