Title: Water softener
Post by: Blackadder on October 28, 2018, 06:17:46 pm
Got a water softener kit from pure freedom, change the salt every 1,500-2,000 litres made, how often should the resin tank be changed?

I was told that but had it for 6 months and the softener seems to be making zero difference now?

I bought one and sent it back after speaking to Gaps. Mine was NOT self charging so to produce 1,500 litres of water I’d have to refresh it three times. Obviously that’s impractical.

As a matter of interest what difference did you see before?

Was getting about 2,000 litres at 0.00 then another 3,000 before going above 0.02, now jumping to 0.04 after only 2,000 litres.

What's that? TDS? I didn't think a softener would affect tds.

Water softener is supposed to extend the life of R/O not affect TDS .
Removed mine from the PF van system after 2 yrs as membrane only lasting 12 months anyway and couldn't be bothered with the faff of salt washing every 3 days.

Result - Membrane lasts 16 months - for the last 3 yrs  at least  ???  ???
