Title: Other Methods
Post by: Andy Hogarth on June 26, 2006, 05:21:27 pm
I'm just wondering how many of you carry out more than one method of carpet cleaning.
Up till now I've only considered hwe, But thats partly because I only knew of hwe.
I've been reading some articles on various types including dry foam, bonnet cleaning and steam and would be interested to know if anybody mixes these methods and what  situations would prompt them to do so.

I'm just trying to keep an open mind with regards to different methods and I'm finding good and bad points for all methods I come across, It would be interesting to hear your views.

Thanks
Andy

Andy

The fact that you are enquiring about and exploring the the wider world of carpet cleaning shows that you are open minded and willing to consider alternatives to HWE.  It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if someone were to supply figures declaing that there are more M2 of carpet cleaned each year in the UK by a bonnet/pad type process than any by other system.  Just think of all the high rise office blocks and out of town offices and call centres there are, and all but a few will be covered with carpets :) and most will be on a maintenance programme to be cleaned two or more times a year :) :) :)  The earnings from these contracts can make us regular carpet cleaners look like paupers :'(

It is for people like you, Andy, that I have organised the NCCA Hands On Experience at Wolverhampton on 18th September. Subject to adverse traffic conditions, I would expect it to be about a 2 hour journey from most of Yorkshire. Travelling south on the M6, you'll pull off onto the M54 before you get the the M6 bottleneck which is usually around the Walsall J10 area onwards travelling south.

We are planning to have systems from Dry Fusion, Texatherm, Cimex/Encap, SuperPad Charly,  Chemstractor, various generic bonnet and OP systems, Host, Envirodri, Sebo, Agimac plus a few Pile Lifters plus a demonstration of how to improve the performance of a regular vacuum. I still need to cross a few 't's' and dot a few 'i's' in order to confirm all of the above will be present.

There will be an opportunity for all delegates to try the equipment for themselves and to judge the standards achieved. We have a lot of carpet that MUST be cleaned, so you'll be able to see how quick they can be too.

If anyone else is interested, you can book your place by calling the NCCA on 0116 271 9550.  The cost, including lunch and V.A.T. is only £15 or £10 for NCCA Members.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

Thanks Ken,

I'll book my ticket Friday and hopefully get  to it, My wife is due to give birth on the 22nd so I'll have to play it by ear closer to the date. Is it just the one day??

Great idea with the hands on :D

Thanks for the reply carpetclean.

I've just had a look on the envirodri site, interesting method.
The site lists many benefits of using this technique, I particularly like the fact it Leaves the carpet clean dry and ready for immediate use it also boasts Cost saving have you found this.

How does the overall cleaning capabilities compare to hwe and do you still use hwe at all??

Thanks
Andy

hi andy i have a t/m and a prtable and would not be with out either of them. i think there is a definate place for the micro sponges which do a good job but cannot be compared to the deep clean of water extraction.
