Got a customer who owes £100
Unfortunately for me they turned off their standing order.
Yes mug am I for not noticing sooner, ashamed to say 4 cleans.
Had a lot on my plate and lots of other excuses 🤔
Customer has moved to in-laws while building work commences on their house.
Contacted customer and she said she would pay and doesn’t understand why husband cancelled the standing order, months before building work.
Was thinking of sending a Thomas Higgins letter before action.
Can a customer counter sue you and say your lying?
Obviously I’m not but there quite rich I am not.
I’m sure this is a silly question.
But as you can see I’m a very silly 👦 boy 😪
Thanks

Don't waste your time paying TH. Just send your own leter before action. Plenty of templates available online

Recently joined the fsb. 20 solicitors letters free of charge per year.
Jussayinlike.

I wouldn't think so, but it will want some explaining from you as to why you continued to clean when the payment arrangement had been cancelled ? I'm not having a pop at you, just playing devils advocate. Thats what a Judge would ask if you got that far.

i wouldnt send a THOMAS HIGGINS letter id phone her up and speak to her to resolve the issue OR go round once she moves back in(with a card machine).id also email her a statement of her account or print one out to give to her......
hope you get your money... :)

if ANY customer doubts how much they owe(which is very rare!)i always print or email them a statement of their account off cleaner planner with all the dates of the cleans they owe and the outstanding balance...works every time and they dont doubt anymore and cough up.....

possibly - but if the customer didn't give specific verbal or written notice that they wanted the clean cancelled then it is within the realms of possibility that someone may not notice a standing order had been cancelled
i think its worth the investment of a letter from TH - then after a week chase up yourself with a phone call/visit (best with a phone call) to see if payment is forthcoming then decide on whether its worth the time/hassle to retrieve the money via court
They can't sue you from this - only defend the action

I would simply send a letter from yourself first or just go round and knock..Having renovated properties before myself, the amount of time you spend organising things and doing the work takes every hour of your time and some (it becomes the only thing you focus on).... sometimes the little things get pushed to a side or overlooked. Not that it's an excuse but it just happens, it could be just a genuine forgetfulness on their behalf.
As you have said yourself you've had a lot on your plate and you have let this slip i'm pretty sure its the same for them.

Just because they cancelled their standing order does not mean they cancelled their service.
The money is owed

True, but by extending them a line of credit for four months you're getting close to something you aint entitled to do without a licence.

🤗 paid 🤗 yesterday
Lessons learned.
I do use George, Daz
I sent a statement of account via pdf to customers phone.
Will make sure I check standing orders every time
Only have 5
Never setting anymore.
I’m never exactly on time so clean dates get out of sync with payment dates.
You can’t religiously do a clean on say the 10 th of the month as sometimes that will be at the weekend.
Obviously heavy rain days can throw a spanner in the works and if a payment is near the end of the month then this can roll into next month if the cleaning gets postponed 🤔
Basically standing orders for me have become away of keeping forgetful/bad payers.
Basically if you can’t pay cash, cheque/cheque by post
Pay online or post payment through my door then do one 👊
Thanks again everyone from a silly boy 🤭
Got all my stuff in order for Thomas Higgins now my client ref etc
Hope your all getting this weather 22 and sunny with a light breeze 😎
Take care fellas👋

Standing orders???
Why don't you use Gocardless direct debit?
You do the clean then then submit the payment on the day. Job done.

I know a lot use go card less.
Not looked into it take it there’s a fee (rent to use machine?)
Maybe somewhere down the line.
Just happier not having the odd few
That are “ All show and no dough!”
