Title: How long to do this house?
Post by: JackieW on September 14, 2018, 10:44:18 am
House,
Windows, including a conservatory
Fascias, soffits, guttering
Garage door
Plus 15 panel  conservatory roof

This guy reckons about an hour.

Where am I going wrong?

The whole property wouldn't have had more than a months worth of dirt on it, handy vent free windows, no gable end fascia's,no soffits and so on, wouldn't it be great if everything we cleaned was that easy.

Mad. I'd say that was a morning's job easily.

That conny roof was quite lightly soiled. And everything else seemed clean to start with.

BUT the spray nozzle for the finials seemed worth a thought.

In real life nearly every customer who wants a conny roof done waits 'til it is much worse than that!

We do loads of jobs like this video but there is no way you will do that in an hour I would say two people would take 1:5 hours to do it on your own I would alow 2-2:5 hours  that’s a reasonable size conservatory but it’s a polycarbonate roof so will not take as long to clean as a glass one : I think you will find that’s an ionics promotional video the back doors are open but if shut think it will say ionics demo van on it

No chance anybody is cleaning a property like that properly in “about an hour”.

I’d be looking at half a day to do that properly and would charge accordingly.

All his faffing about with separate poles and  solutions would take the best part of an hour before he’s even started.

One hour seems a bit light to me, but that nozzle and foam set up looks interesting because some finials don't cope so well with a brush pushed against them.  I suspect the foam and nozzle were the key to reducing the time.
I reckon he had a decent break after finishing because he didn't look like a guy who had recently completed an hour's graft.

He would of been a lot more than an hour..

He looked like an amateur....I could tell by the way he was attempting to clean the front door ;D

Its absolute BS that video......the conny alone would take an hour at least...more like 90 mins,an hour for the fascias and garage doors and 30 mins for the windows....

It's defo a 3 hour job from pulling up to driving off.ive done loads of jobs like these over the years.

I'd just use a backpack to apply my chemical of choice(virosol)and use hot WFP on the whole job,no messing about with shower heads or nozzles....I'd also scrub the finials with my brush(they come up cleaner!)....

A totally misleading video IMO....

Not a bit of muck on the roof under the finials.
Even something that clean would take about 3 hours.
Did one similar to that but a lot dirtier and booked it in for a full day and it took that long.
Well 09.30 to 16.00...had to do the soffit and gutters twice on the conservatory, once with UBIK then again by hand using bronze wool and virtually pure UBIK.

Bet its his own house, set of ladders clamped next to the conservatory,  back doors open at 6 mins in.. but closed through rest of video.
Also being trad, how does the landing window being frosted help him with the job? you either clean it properly or not?

Billy Whizz if done in an hour.

£650 for the spray pump, £50 for the foam cleaner and £32 for the spray nozzle.

I know Ionics go OTT with their prices but £650 for a battery operated pump sprayer?

£650 for a battery operated pump sprayer 😂😂😂. How much does muscle power cost?
£50 for 4x1 litre of foam? I bet he used 50 quids worth on that job alone. Now then, where is his profit?

Gardiners back pack and clx pole with a spray nozzle and Virosol will do just as good a job for about £250

Ionics clearly know how to make things looks "professional" and the "bees knees" but it's OVERKILL.  You can do a way better job much cheaper.  How can they get away with charging so much for their products, it is a rip off IMO.  I know somebody who used the stuff in the past and said it was all a waste of money.

Maybe i'm missing something here but this video whilst looks really good, just reminds me of those american commercials where they try to sell you something you clearly dont need, that is way overpriced and probably doesn't work as easy as they are trying to tell you it does.

What a load of Sh***

You should ask Thomas-Sanderson for a conservatory clean price, that’s rip-off.

If the custard says they’ve asked T-S for a quote, put in a ridiculous price, you’ll still get the job.

I did just this.  Custard told me they paid T-S for a conny clean and they charged £1500.  So i said i would do it for £450.  They agreed on the spot!  That was a good days earnings for me....

https://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/sale-107/gardiner-8-litre-mini-battery-sprayer.html

Gardiners version is on sale at £42 plus vat but it's only 8 litre .. Descision time . . Is 1.5 litres extra worth the extra £600?
