Title: That's one minus for Direct Debit
Post by: Marc Stock on September 05, 2018, 05:59:15 pm
Just had a customer call me, and want to cancel his direct debit.

He wants to pay in person or BACS.

He said that he has so many direct debits going out for various things, he doesn't know where he is coming or going.

 ::)roll

So he has agreed to pay me on the day by credit/debit card.

Did he pay by direct debit to begin with or switch later?

What if he's not in when you clean?

Been doing his windows for 12 years; his missus switched to DD back in 2014 as she found it easier at the time. He has explained that he'd prefer to pay me in person going forward; or do BACS as before; but he will now be home when i call to clean windows now anyway. I explained that i no longer accept cash or cheeses but i can take credit/debit card payments instead.

He's happy with that.

Just thought i'd mention it; its interesting to see what the DD lifecyle will be. Perhaps it 4-5 years? before people re-jig their DD priority?

I would have tried to mention that with GoCardless instead of debiting the money as standard (7 days), that you can set it for a particular day ofthe month.

I have a couple of customers who have asked for it to be set up at the end of the month for instance. So it's no big suprise when they look through their statements as they know exactly when it will be debited rather than as and when I clean for instance as that could fall on different dates per month and add to his confusion perhaps

Did a house today and customers young daughter came to me to ask me to clean her windows on her Wendy House at the back of garden.  I did it to entertain her and she paid me with a packet of Haribos sweets.

Her mother was laughing her head off.  All good for customer relations  ;D

The day Haribos becomes the national currency; the day all our political, financial and social problems will be resolved.
