Please forgive me for my stupidity/ignorance in advance.
I used to use a car with a roof rack and ladders for traditional window cleaning.
Then I moved to a van and WFP and I carry no ladders.
I see ladders on van roofs but I wonder how do you get them on and off?
Is it as simple as carrying a smaller ladder or set of steps inside the van to allow you to reach the van roof?
It's something I've never taken notice of before.

Slide off rear of van.

Rear roller bar- makes it easy.

Yes, but it's still a pain as you need a ladder to get to the ladder on a Boxer. Ok on a Dispatch though.

I open my side door and stand on the step.

Me too, but it's a balancing act!

Don't bother at all. Just have a set of folding or collapsible set on back of van in case of a rare occurance.

Why do you need to take ladders off a roof?
Leave them there where they belong!!

Same as - little set of steps in front of tank behind van bulkhead. Brake hard n it clunks.
On a more serious note I tell the more security conscience customers to keep their gates padlocked and I'll use my gate ladder for access if not in. Luckily I have quite a lot of large houses in rows where it works beautifully . Mine's from screw fix, looks like a downturned V . Works for me, but make sure you charge for the extra security aspect when quoting.

Us Old 'Un's "Face plant" would be more appropriate - dialing 999 for help and the fire brigade bust the gate down so an ambulance crew can get at you!
Gate ladder it is then ;D ;D ;D ;D
