Title: Yellow Page(s)
Post by: Doctor Carpet (Ret'd) on August 26, 2018, 12:24:53 pm
My new YP arrived yesterday.

It was so slim t5hey could post it through my letterbox.

It runs to just 144 pages and on the front it proclaims “Final Edition” :o

There’s still a section for carpet cleaning and it takes up two whole columns.

Ours is the same but my mate says he’s doing really well with it as he’s the only one with a block advert, and the old foggies still use it.

Yes it did occur to me that whoever is in this edition is in a good place as those who tend to use yp will keep this copy for quite a few years.

TBH. Yellow Pages created their own demise.  Clearly the internet contributed but years ago when they were trying to convert all the YP Directory Customers to Yell.Com.  If  you were anything other than a one man band they got very greedy with companies and priced themselves out of the market.  I used to be in My Local, Regional and  National YP at one time,  however I think the last quote (about 10-12 years ago) we had off them for all 3 and YP.com was over £6000 P.A. So that was the end of them with us.
