If you join the FSB you get free business banking with the CoOp:

Santander is cheap. But you can’t pay in over the counter and the online account is poor in terms of searching for transactions and the app is dated.

Santander.
Yeh i got told i had to pay in at the machines, but i only ever pay in the odd cheque, 95% online anyway..

I'm with Santander. Free because it was an Alliance & Leicester business account.
You can pay in cheques at most post offices. Just need a paying in book & deposit envelope. Cash can be paid in over the counter with your card.
You can pay in to most banks at the post office: https://www.postoffice.co.uk/branch-banking-services

Only ever accepted 1 single cheque in 9 years, never again! Didn't get paid, proved it to lady in question and made no difference to her. She was adamant it came out of her account and that was it. Had a couple since and sent them back.

;D
I collected 350 cheques last month, the lowest amount for 10 years. In July 2007 it'd have been more like 1000.
Only had an issue a handful of times on what must be more than 100,000 cheques.

Just checked and since March 2015 (when I started using cleaner planner) I've collected 20,602 cheques. Probably had a problem with about 5.

I'm with Santander £7.50 a month,I've paiid many cheques in and hundreds of bacs payments every month but always £7.50 a month works for me I don't take cash but I can deposit cheques in the hole in the wall outside the bank takes a bit of time but it works
I also find the online baking easy which surprises me as I'm just a thick window cleaner

Don’t worry there is a new invention called a debit card and a terminal arriving in Sweaty Sock Land next week ;D

I offer customers the option of cheque, cash or bank transfer but try to get all new customers on bank transfer, even over cash.
But I have a branch of HSBC within 1.5 miles and I pay all my cheques and cash in once a week usually on a Friday. If I have only two or three low value cheques I roll them over to the following week and sometimes use the cash or keep it 'til the next week.
Although I pay for my business account transactions and was paying over £30.00 a month I have halved this by ...
Asking customers to go on line more as cheques are more expensive to pay in than an on line payment.
Paying any cash direct to our joint personal account (for free).
As "George" says how each customer pays that is fine for my records - I just checked 2015/2018 July percentages.
2018
Cash 31%
Chq 12%
C/Txfr 57%
2015
Cash 29%
Chq 24%
C/Txfr 47%
Cheques are dying naturally and last month I paid 20 in over 3 transactions. Cash seems steady.
If cheques really reduce I may stop them altogether or add a £1 charge or just let them wither away naturally.
