I struggled today. I only did one job, but it was one that I can get around in under 5 hours normally. Today it took me 6+. I tried to work it so that I could maximise my time working in the shade (it's a tall building), but no such luck. As it is local to me, I came home when finished.

Rather it like this than those long winter months of high winds, heavy rain, snow and ice.
-
We have sun cream in every van. You should just keep it in there.

It's an age thing! ;D ;D
Admittedly it's caught many of guard because we're not used to it, but if it's going to be like this each year, I for one gladly welcome it and we can get used to it then.
But I've adapted by getting some new uniforms in. Shorts and polo tops which are breathable from trespass. Makes a huge difference.
Oh, and sporty sandals ;D ;D ;D

I think your just getting old Daz ;D
I’m loving it. Alright it’s a bit tough when it’s 30 odd degrees, but I’d much rather work in this than freezing cold windy grey days.
Still going to the gym 5 days a week 8)
Anyway, does it even get above 12 degrees up north? I heard people up there don’t know what sunglasses are because there never needed?
:D

Maybe over kill but I don't wear shorts and I always use long sleeve t-shirts. With all the time spent in the sun regardless of cream I cover up.

The smaller and fitter you are, the less you suffer in the heat. Smaller bodies make for more efficient cooling. I know this from ultra running.
You're about 24 stone, Daz, no wonder you suffer in the heat.
Have you considered doing some exercise and losing some weight?

I have finally given in! My van is in for an hour having the aircon fixed.
Been blasting hot through the vents.
Cool bag in van with loads of water and ice blocks, water melon and fruit.

I can't do any physical work for a long time but was getting bored at home.
So I have been out with one of the guys. To be honest it gets a bit nippy sat in the van with the air con on working so I keep getting out to warm up a bit ;D
Sorry Daz! :-*

Nope.. I'm as cool as a cucumber ;D
No hoodies. Just like to keep skin covered to stop burning and protection from the dreaded skin c word.
Remeber we are out for long hours. You see builders and road workers these days too keeping covered. Only a fool thinks it won't happen to them.

Forecast next week looks shocking.. rain storms wind and so on.. yay! ;D

I am suppoed to be used to the hot weather since i grew up in south africa but the humidity in london is riddiculous.
a few tips i learned..
start at 6 or 7 in the morning and finish at 12... after that its too hot..
get baby powder... put it on your balls in the morning and it will stop the sweat (bacteria) ripping up your bits. Trust me it works.
suncream is a good idea... but i dont actuall use any so i cant say much about that one.

Are you black? Not using suncream is madness for a white man.

no, i just spend enough time in the sun the whole year so that I dont burn any more, UK sun is pretty weak and only the fair skin people get burned. if you start in spring by getting enough sunshine and a tan then your body naturally protects you from the summer sun.
modern day people work all day in the office therefore only get sun 1 or 2 days a week and they go nuts and burn.. i am in the sun 6 hours a day all week and have built up a natural brown skin.
most window cleaners can so the same.. yes i did have to use cream for a day or 2 a few weeks ago when it was stupidly hot but now i dont even burn after spending 5 hours with no shirt on..

I reckon you're wrong. Mediterranean olive skinned people obviously do have better protection, but it's still a risk.
-
I used to live in the Middle East and holiday there at least once a year, I still burnt like a crisp a few weeks back after spending 6 hours in the sun at West Wittering.
-
Yep, i can confirm i am sick of this weather.. cooling down tomorrow, hope it stays that way.
-
...and then warming up.

I guess it’s what we get used to and our summer’s of recent years perhaps decades haven’t been that hot for such a long period
I’ve two friends one from central Russia one from Slovakia and there not happy until it’s above 35 c and they window clean all day in it and absolutely can’t get enough of it, it often what they would get most summers
Me I don’t mind the heat, I just cover up, wide brim hat, no sun screen, try to finish before 3 when it really starts to warm up some times not though
