i have 40/40 ro with commercial pump and di from pure freedom would i be better off taking the di canister off and putting in the van and running it that way slower pump i run the veriflow in the van at 35 so if i put it before the pump would i get more life out of the resin creeping it through and not forsing it through with the big pump i get 002 before the di at present but its a big pump so iam only getting 1500 max out of 6ltre canister
who on here ro the water first storage tank at 002 to 005 then transfer to van then tank to di then pump then brush if so how many ltres roughly are you going through with di in van before changing canister you must be getting more than 1500lres at 002 to 005 at 35

If I was consistently getting less than 005 from an ro I wouldn't even bother with di.
But yes in theory your resin should last longer with a slower flow through it at point of use. Although I would put it between pump and reel and not tank and pump. Reason being some experience airlocks this way depending on the connections used.

R/O, di then IBC storage tank. We did it that way as there were 2 of us then later a third cleaner all drawing water. If we didn't then we would have to have invested in another 2 di vessels for the remaining vans in those days. (The 2 of us remaining mainly work off my van these days.)
We have never had an issue with the tds of the water in the van's tank. Our rejection rate from the r/o is between 2 and 3 and the resin in the 7 liter di vessel lasts about a year.
Toward the end of the year the water tds from the di vessel reads 1ppm on the inline tds meter, but my hand held tds meter still has it at zero from the van's tank. I'm guessing my hand held tds meter is accurate as it was recalibrated to 34ppm calibration fluid. Either way, I'm not going to loose sleep over 1ppm difference between tds meters.
Resin change time is usually around September/October. Being this time of the year the windows dry quicker and we do take the opportunity to do visual window inspections from time to time to ensure the job is right.
Had the di vessel been on the van it won't necessarily mean that water was being filtered slower. I would estimate that we draw more water through our pumps per minute than the 4040 produces at the same time. My gut tells me we draw about 3lpm through the pumps (not continously) where the r/o produces 2lpm of pure (continously). I appreciate that this statement can be argued convincingly either way. If having a di vessel on the van makes better use of the resin, then I believe in my case the difference is negligible. I would also have to make provision for properly securing it if it was on the van.

personally i think its a myth that running water slower through a DI vessel makes the resin last longer....
im DI ONLY and run my tap water through fast through my DI vessels(takes me 25-30 mins to purify 500L)...Ive also tried running it slower where it was taking 60 mins to purify 500l for months on end... result was the same...NO CHANGE IN RESIN USAGE....

i dont really want a di vessel in the the van i h ave always puriified from ro to 000 in storage tank then transfered to van it means testing from brush now and again tds
i think that would complicate things iam going to change the resin flush the system for a hour i still have the 450 pumped system i was getting better resin usage on that but it was to slow for me

Because it works as a pressurised system an RO will always work better when there is no or little resistance reducing that pressure at the purified exit, this means the reading you take with the di disconnected could be lower than when connnected.I have always filled the tank from the ro and then put it through the DI on demand which does away with the above problem and tds creap, it even gives you the added advantage of being able to use the water straight from the tank without the need of putting it through the di for the likes of FSG cleans where 000tds isnt needed.

What pump are you using to transfer it have an external clarke maybe I should connect the vessel to the end of the hose when filling the tank little bit less pressure then

Unless you have low tap pressure that needs boosting then theres no need for a pump, I just connect the hose to the ro in my van and fill the van tank, at the minute the tank tds is around 10ppm as the 4040 membrane is around 4 years old and the tds starting to rise, even at that level I could probably still get away without using a DI but I like to work with 000tds, an ocd thing.

Thanks for your replies i have been sold poor quality resin local company I have used for 5 years first it was a tds... metre.. that awash a ec metre then it was bio fuel resin now poor quality resin I have called purefredom and got to a conclusion of twin dI or 25ltr di that should last me 9 months noto a week ::)roll
