Every day m8.
Your’s could be lack of exercise due to using your electric reel ;D

Bending down to unsnag hoses is hard on the back and the biggest annoyance in this job, doesnt matter what I do if theres something to snag on my hose will find it, (roll eyes)

In my early 20's I used to run up the ladders before they hit the window sill and the odd times slide down the ladders, fireman style. But this one time, I didn't bend the knees on lading and it jarred my back which I found out the next morning.
Suffered from a bad back ever since, but I've learnt to take it steady when I can feel it twinge and that seems to save it from going into a full blown back ache. But also my posture plays a big part. I've grown up with people smaller than me and so I often slouch which doesn't help either. So I'm. Always mindful of my posture now.

Bloody hell, Nathan ;D
So it's not down to years of balancing and being hunched on a ladder, it's down to you growing up in Lilliput?

I get a bad back every couple of years . it can come on realy quickly, and heal realy quickly.
it can last a few days, and it is so bad I cant hardly get in and out of my car, to get out of bed , I have to fall out of bed and crawl to the window sill and climb up to stand.
literally agony , it can then go from being this bad to being fine the next day...
I rarely go to the docs , but the last time I had to....apparently its muscle spasms.
i am the type of person that just gets on with it , ..last year I dislocated my shoulder on a thursday, and was back working on a monday . I have worked with gout in my toe and wrist....
but these back spasms are horrific and I have had a couple of days out

most bad back are because you dont exercise your core muscles enough
your core supports your back, and dead lifts are no good for core ;)
-
Doing the plank or hanging leg raises.
Believe these to be the best core exercises.
I don’t do them though 😔

your talking b*****x mate...sorry....i know loads of fitness guys that have trouble with their backs at times(and some of them are really shredded!)....its just the way it is....no matter what you do in the gym....
anyway i feel fine tonight....its ok now just a back strain from lifting 2 sofas down stairs on sunday! ;D
its your posterior chain than needs strengthening(hamstrings, glutes, lower back muscles as well as core).........to help your back but still its a strange one the lower back sometimes......anything can set it off....
sometimes im fine for 6 months then itll go and ill be in pain for a few days.sometimes its been bad for a month or so.....swings and roundabouts.....

My lower back is knackered and has been for years.
I put it down to 10 years in a warehouse lifting far too much weight far too often.
Mines worse on a morning, usually eases up during the day.
If I do any heavy lifting it sets it off again, even bending down set it off. Just getting old...

ive fell off ladders twice now(many years ago)and landed on my heels both times as the ladders slid down the wall from first floor height... ::)roll
the second time i fell i had a sore back for weeks.i even went for an x ray as i thought i might have fractured a bone but luckily it came back clear...

Hope you get it sorted Daz.
Had a similar issue. It seemed to settle for me now since investing in a decent matress. It's like magic

I got some great advice from one of these forums about 10yrs ago as i was getting crippling sciatica that made it impossible to work.
It was to buy an INVERSION TABLE off ebay.
The mild pain starts maybe once every 6 months or maybe a year. I just go on this for 5mins once or twice and in bad cases again in the morning and hey presto...its gone, no BS.
The aparatus uses your own body weight as traction so anything trapped is released..well id does fore me,
By far the best £60 ive ever spent without a doubt.

your core supports your back, and dead lifts are no good for core ;)
Most people think their core is just their stomach muscles, when in fact it's all the muscles around your spine, which includes stomach, obliques and the whole of your back; basically all the muscles from your neck to your pelvis, excluding your shoulders.
Dead lifts work your posterior chain, which include your lower back.
Incorrect dead-lifting technique can harm your lower back.

Daz, you're quite a hefty lump of window cleaner, aren't you? 19 Stone or something daft?
Serious now, but maybe if you slimmed down (and I'm not saying you're fat before you get all sensitive on me), it might be easier on your body?
I once shared a room with a 6 foot 7 inch soldier who was into weight training too, but flip me, he was always having problems with his lower limbs (feet/ankles/knees).
Army beds were too small for him; he had to get issued with a longer one.
The big lug.

If I ever have lower back problems, it's from sitting down too much - slouching - in my office chair.
I do lift weights 3 to 5 x a week, and run, and I do stretch regularly. I try to do 'intuitive stretching' (I'll feel what I think needs stretching out and stretch with an emphasis on that) most days, but in reality, that's probably about 3 or 4 times a week.
I stretch in front of the tv, watching something, 'cos it bores me.

im ok now..it just disappeared as quickly as it came!im still gonna take it easy in the gym tonight..NO DEADLIFTS for me today! ;D
ive actually lost weight tosh..im currently at 17 and a half stone..... ;)......6ft 2in.......

You wouldn’t make a good removal man daz 😬
I always tweak my back when I help friends or relatives move stuff.
Real no no, is twisting when holding weight.
As you said posterior chain😫

thanks for that
think of it this way you strength all the muscules up the back of your back
but think of all the muscles up the front of your body,if the strengthen isn,t equal in front and back of the body this can cause back pain.
dead lift are a classic for causing tight hamstrings if not done right, has must people pull with the upper body and not from the hips ,which if not done right can effect the back,
-
had a cracking workout at the gym tonight.....no sign of any back pain now.....weird.....

Muscle and tendon imbalances are a problem as we age. There's a local window cleaner who walks around like John Wayne because of it.
Stretching also helps, or yoga if you're posh.

Moobs weighing him down.

Surprised no one has said to go and see a qualified sport masseur .
