Title: How to apply Ubik 2000?
Post by: stuartb on May 14, 2018, 10:16:45 pm
Did a fascia board job today. Sprayed on my Ubik 2000 with a garden sprayer.  How do you guys apply it without it going everywhere?

Careful using Ubik in hot weather like yesterday, it’s one of the few TFRs that needs to be rinsed off before it dries, otherwise it’s a real ball ache to remove. I use Virosol for that exact reason (its easy to remove if it has already dried).

Worth baring in mind when you are next ordering.

It smells nicer too.

me too...virosol all the way....in fact ive got a little conny roof to clean for a regular customer today.i access it via a balcony so nice easy job.normally i would use a backpack for applying virosol on these jobs but ill just squirt it direct on my brush using a spray bottle(because its easier than carrying a backpack up a ladder) ;)

I have used virosol for the first time for a couple of pvc cleans, I'd say it's the worst stuff I've used. It dried quite quickly and left orange stains on some of the guttering which I cannot remove, plus it's far less effective than the non caustic tfr I used to use from the local hgv suppliers.

did you dilute it?and how long did you leave it for?ive never had this and ive been using virosol for years

I diluted it approximately 50/50, maybe weaker. I got a bit too eager I think and sprayed too much of an area to clean before it dried, but like I say, I never had any trouble with the tfr and I’m sure it was more effective

i always spray  small sections esp on a hot day like yesterday and not let it dwell for longer than 5 mins.i also spray the area with water first......my dilution rate is usually around 20% virosol/80% water....you dont need much...if you use too much then it foams up too much....

Looks good Daz. I’ve still got half a tub left, so I’ll keep using it and see how I get on. Cheers Daz

These jobs are great when you can walk on the extension/flat roof and clean from them.
Hot water makes a huge difference like you say on these types of jobs.

Looks good

Little tip I've used over the years - Depending on how warm the weather is, work out a section to be cleaned and brush on some water first with pole, enough to cover all what needs cleaning, then when you apply your detergent it won't soak into the plastic so quick.
Works a treat and eliminates the worry if you have made the cleaner a bit too strong damaging the plastic.

Way to strong not surprised you have staining mix it 1 part virosol to 10 parts water , you shouldn’t be using caustic tfr on plastics it will damage the surface and take the shine right off it , we have tried most chemicals and find virosol by far the best at removing dirt, algy from plastic , glass , industrial buildings , etc evan if it dries on with the dilution rate I have mentioned when you wet it up it will come off easily with out marking or leaving staining , at the strength you ate using it will be difficult to rinse off as it will take ages and leave a sticky residue if you arnt careful

Plastic is a non pourous surface so wetting it down will cool it but that’s it

We did this industrial building with a 10-1 virosol mix took just under two hours the dirt just fell off (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1526502013_E7AFF737-9947-4149-9982-6395A052B09D.jpeg)(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1526502013_66CF0675-3401-4D3F-8139-6BDAE61105CF.jpeg)(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1526502010_E849C9CC-5FF7-4604-BB01-54C61E215AF0.jpeg)(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1526501955_CAA5B206-F44D-4045-9693-F860E64ABDA4.jpeg)(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1526501941_E6848573-8AA5-4091-AE0D-66F067BDCC95.jpeg)
