As a lot of you will have seen , last week I designed my new signage , I ordered it on Wednesday at 8.20 pm and it was here at 1.20 pm on Monday , not a mirracle but considering there were 5 different colour layers to lay up it was very quick indeed .
I cracked on with it right away and got all done but the phone number due to weather looking iffy >:(
Well happy with the results , see if I can get a decent pic of the so far today .
Then I remembered its insurance renewal today , so rang them to mention the signs and expecting a price hike I was then amazed to see the renewal price go down £20 , which was nice ;D
So with that in mind its only really cost me £125 for full signwriting !
The Signbuilder.co.uk have my vote if you're going DIY :D

brillant job mate..........very smart.....i paid a professional sign writer £160 (cash in hand) to do mine.i couldnt do it myself without messing it up i reckon.... ;D.
at least you know if you give up window cleaning rich you ve got another job to fall back on.....

Yes they picked a good van to showcase there , nice small square panel with one colour font at the ideal working height !
It took me about 4 hours all in i suppose , but my vinyls were huge and multiple layered , bonnet and back doors were quite easy , but the sides have 2 way curved panels with no straight edges at all to go off , i reckon i spent more time positioning than gluing !
But thanks all for the likes , im well happy with it myself , see if it brings a few jobs in now !
-
Looks Great!
-
That's gave me some motivation to get my van done as it should have been done last year!

Is that your own design or has a company done it for you ?
I only ask as it looks very corporation style , like there are lots of these vans out all over the place , or is that how you want it to look ?
Do you work with the side doors open , if you do i see why you have split the info , if not you have a big space that you can really make an impact with .
I might even have a playaround in a mo to show you how i would have it if i had the wedge for one of them vans ;D
-
It's a company that generally do large jobs like Arsenal and Jaguar Garages but they do vans and restaurants etc. I should have had it done when I got it but they must have been busy then I had to drop everything to do a job then after Christmas I was a tight arse so I've just got them to change it and ran it past the wife this morning, she says it is fine but looking at your van I could be getting more out of it.
-
Nice job P&F, nice to see you kept a bit of pink in there ;D
-
This is the best I can do with all that info , its a love it or hate it job !
Trouble is mate , you do far too much to fit on one van ;D ;D ;D
-
A lot of the time I'll have the side door open and try to keep the back shut. I'm happy with the back but not sure about the layout of the sides although it's got the keywords there for what I want to target. I told him to take the logo of the bonnet before but not sure if it makes any difference.
I did have a look at that website to see if I could do any better but gave up.
-
I know what you are saying with the side door , i had a transporter before and with the side open the writing made no sense , it dont matter with my noddy van now as i only use the side when filling up or getting the backpack out , which is few and far between
Not to worry , it killed a few hours off watching the soaps ;D
-
Very nice indeed
-
Looks very good sets you apart from the competition
-
The back is fine

I think your name should have been first (on the rear panel and the services on the front panel.
Unfortunately, the lines of the van don't help the signage. But following the lines of the van with regard to your telephone number would possibily have looked worse.
I'll have to look at the signage on other Customs as see how other sign writers have dealt with the body lines.

On the near side the steel runner breaks it up so looks better. The van lines are making it look squint but it needs more.
I had to get them to redo the near side as it was 6 inches over to the right on the middle panels. (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1524856287_IMG_20180427_200130.jpg)

Is it a bit like hanging pictures. Most walls on old houses are not quite flush or the ceiling is slightly angled, therefore hanging a picture level actually makes everything stand out. Therefore its sometimes best to angle the picture.
Same with the van signage, would it have looked better ifthe writing went in the same direction as the body work rather than making it stand out like a sore thumb.
Its great n all, i just think it's been laid wrong
-
I just had a crack at putting what i did at the same angles as the bodywork , couldnt move the logo though as it was a hash up of little bits to resemble the original , but im not sure even then ?
-
.
-
My drive slopes back so in the last pic it'll stand out more.
-
It doesn't look good angled either! P@F
-
I will say though , each time i check in on this thread and i see the way that your van has been done it is growing on me more and more , i do quite like it now , and lets not forget that as you operate with sides open a lot of the time , it is probably the best layout for you , any other way and people will be none the wiser as to who you are !
Run with it chief i say , see how it goes , no point chucking money away is there ?
-
leave it as it is........it looks smart, clean and good enough......thats all you need....... :)
-
I think it looks smart.
However, the logo on the side door isn't right, where it says 'cleaning services' it overshoots the Burnbrae bit, whereas on the back door it's neat and all in line.

talk about nit picking! ::)roll ;D
-
Well spotted, it should over shoot the Burnbrae but they have messed about with the font on the back door.
I'm fine with it now and noticed some folks bending there neck to take note! Although it still needs more and P@F's van shows what you can do, I'd put this off since last year so it was his post that spured me on to get it booked in but I just did'nt want to go OTT.
-
I decided to do mine too, where I had previous vans done before wanted £300+ vat. Both vans cost me £97 delivered!!! (That's total for two vans, not each)

Do you use pure on each and every window though?cos surely you run out of water early afternoon with the small tanks you can fit in them vans?
My 500L tank is just about large enough for 5 or 6 hours work a day some days....
-
I've has a bipper with 350 litres and that lasted me all day from 8.30 till 4.30 ;D

😲
How on earth 🌏 is that possible!! I use about 450 in around 5 hours 😯
-
Sounds like someone needs to invest in a pump controller then or stop wasting water!!!!!!

Oviously sat in the van drinking tea not cleaning windows that’s imposible to work that long with that amount of water 😂😂😂😂😂
-

I certainly don’t waste water , I’m just shocked that 350 Ltrs lasts 8 hours !
-
the sign writing looks good by the way "easy clean".....
i use a flow controller and uni valve and dont think i waste water but im running on empty after 5 or 6 hours "on the glass" most days with a full 500L tank......
