Title: Solutions you use
Post by: Andy Hogarth on June 22, 2006, 05:13:33 pm
Hi All ;D

With all the threads lately on stainguards and chemicals  I'd be interested to know what chemicals you lot actually use/prefer.

I presumed that I'd use all from one supplier but after reading some threads I realise that you use different chemicals from a variation of suppliers.

So come on then from prespray to stainguard, what works best for you, please.

cheers ;)
Andy

Mostly alltec stuff, but the most effective chemicall i carry is without doubt is

impact chemmicalls pog (paint oil and grease) remover available from woodbridge, this removes virtually all oil based stains and normall extraction removes most water based so very rarely do i have to use anything else.

makes light work of
grease
oil
shoe polish
make up
ink
paint
tar
and loads more

Andy, Liahona - What are you using at the moment?? Have you got a preference  or are most pretty much the same and it's more a matter of price??

Cheers Red

You need to try them for yourself as what works for one may not work for you.

i agree with steve  and i carry quite a few chemicals  from different suppliers that are supposed to do the same thing but dont some work better than others on different spots. the three  that stand out though are filter out prochem gps woodbridge and hydromaster grease breaker

All or at least most of the chemicals I use come from the states. I mostly use Bridgepoint and Steamway. Best, Dave.

Ive got chems from most of the major suppliers on the van or in the garage, I got a large quantity of Ashby's chems when I brought my kit, a lot of which I tried and wasn't over impressed with, I've accumalated chems from prochem, chemspec, alltec, extracta and several others, which I tend to use as and when depending on the job, as Steve said one person might swear by a particular chemical whilst someone else might swear at it, take microsplitters for example, some people love em and some hate them, its all a matter of personal choice, if you want to try something out get on the phone to the supplier and some will send you out samples (some wont), at the end of the day if you like a product they know that you will be back for more so an initial freebie wont kill them, beg, steal or borrow, it works better when its free!!              Andy

I agree with the above comments on ashbys chems.

My local supplier is prochem so i started using them, the are available for "face to face" advice and guidance. I felt that was important as a newbie. When i am a bit more established i will probably start trying other mail order suppliers.

Regards

Andrew
