Does anyone else pretend they’re playing a clarinet, when they close all the clamps on a collapsed pole?

No, but if that floats your boat who are we to judge? However, if its part of a recital then maybe you need to see someone.

No! With me it's trombone. This instrument encapsulates both the movement of the slide on the trombone and the action of the collapsing pole. When i'm changing a brush i imagine i'm playing a large harmonica. If i'm using a cloth i often think i'm waving off a loved one going on a sea cruise. I won't discuss my Jet washing fantasies !
