For me it’s that time of the year - want to shop around....
Can anyone recommend specialists in the industry. Thanks

Alexander Swan

I wouldn't bother with the likes of A plan, Alexander Swan or Adrian Flux anymore. They had it too good when the bigger insurance companies weren't insuring vans with water tanks, but things have changed and more and more companies now offer this cover. My annual premium is now about half of what it used to be when I used these ' specialists '

Go on a compare site.

A plan.
They have the option of a courtersy van with tank and system cost a bit more.

Will give these a try too, I got a quote from Alexander Swan and they also offered a courtesy van and system for a bit more.
Thanks

Iv just received my cheap quote from quoteline direct however it is exactly that - it’s a very basic insurance cover. I ended up going with A plan for a bit more as it included courtesy vehicle with wfp system in it

Suppose it depends what you want, as long as im legal im happy :D
I dont think id need a courtesy vehicle with wfp, ive got a second van anyway but i could manage out of a car with backpack or hire one in the unlikley event im off the road for more than a couple of days.

I agree.
My mrs did the comparison website thing a few years ago for her car insurance, and went with the cheapest quote.
When she was involved in a non fault accident the Customer Service from them was dire, getting to speak to them on the phone took forever while put on hold, they never returned calls etc.
Flippin' nightmare.

mines not cheap but it includes courtesy van, legal cover, windscreen cover,uk only call centre and breakdown cover......(one call insurance)

Also you've got to weigh up the excess, customer service etc etc.
I think people also forget that a standard courtesy vehicle is all well and good but you've got to get your tank, possibly your RO, Di vessel etc etc out of your van and into the courtesy vehicle. And that's if you still have access to your vehicle and it's contents after a smash. For instance the back doors might be so smashed in you can't get you tank out or it could be holed. Poles and equipment could be damaged etc. If it's on the back of a lorry getting towed away, how are you going to get your tank out & home? I've had someone drive up the back of my Vivaro 8 years ago so I know what it's like. Luckily it wasn't too bad & I could still drive it home and get all my gear out and in to the courtesy van, then all back in a couple of weeks later.
We run two vans but personally I like the piece of mind of a courtesy wfp system & van on my drive within a day or so and all my tools covered. That's why it's currently Alexander Swan for me. It probably costs just an extra house or so a week extra in terms of extra money. Van insurance isn't a corner I want to cut.

Just renewed mine with Gladiator.
Window Cleaning modified Ford Ranger with off road cover for business, £203

Just got mine sorted.
Here are some tips.
1. Set aside an afternoon or a morning to sort.
2. Get a few quotes so you can get the best price.
This year I got the price down for the transporter down by about £200 to £550 and for the Transit custom down from 1k to about £670
Some tips:
1. Play hardball. Leave it to the last day or the day before and then get quotes.
2. If you've got a long no claims bonus on one van or on a car then ask them to 'mirror' it. They 'mirrored' my 4 years NCB on the transporter across to the Ford.
3. If you want to get the price down then ask for no options ie. No legal, No windscreen.
This year Adrian Flux's best quote was 1k for the Ford. Quoteline Direct were not competitive either.
The decent quotes this year were from Alexander Swann and A-Plan.

I'm 49 and my Ranger is a few years old but I think it's more down to where I live. Rural Dorset and Devon are amongst the cheapest insurance areas in the country. and the vehicle has a tracking device fitted too. Insurance was £168 last year with all non-standard mods and risks declared and off road cover is included for business use.
Insurance was through Gladiator again who seem extremely good at sourcing non-standard commercial cover for anyone who needs to drive off road regularly. Many of the policies I'd tried in the past had a specific exclusion for any off road use and if you're cleaning solar panels or working on remote rural buildings then it's worth checking if you are actually covered. Some companies wouldn't provide cover for the duration of the off road usage and with others it would void the policy entirely.

swinton done me a very good deal . its best to start getting quotes a month before the due date, let the price war start then . this is especially so if youv employees insurance coming up due about same time use that as a bargaining chip . long as youv a clean record you can get the price of a good holiday knocked off the original quotes

I had my yearly update / please insure with us email from Cofused.com today.
Based on last years data the cheapest quote is nearly 50% more than Gladiator.
This is all new ground for me as previously EVERY current insurer has jacked the price up at renewal time.
I wonder if there's a new strategy being employed ?

My car insurance renewal has just appeared from the good people at Tesco.
It's £4 less than last year at £201.
Are they saying I'm passed it ?
-
Just had my renewal through , £436 everything included you can get except a system in courtesy van , not a problem .
Thats for me and the Mrs with protected no claims , feckin needs to be with her on it ;D
