Hi
Has anybody doing builders initial clean noticed that the glass on French doors etc will be scratched by varnish even if there is a protective piece of plastic.
What is the best way clean this type of glass on a new build.
Cheers

Hi Neil,
Dont want to sound stupid, but how can varnish scratch glass?
If you mean getting it off, use a glass scraper, as long as the blade is clean and the glass is wet, you wont scratch the glass.
Thanx

Hi Kerry
I have noticed round the sides of the glass has scratches running vertically while I was using the scraper in a horizontal motion.
I have to disagree but you will scratch toughened glass even keeping the glass wet and using a fresh Unger blade.
We inspected glass panels before and after varnishing noticed the varnish was causing the protective plastic to distort.

Hi Neil
If there are any scratches on the glass it is normally caused by the decorators where they have rubbed down the windows before painting etc. If there is a plastic protector on the glass it should not be scratched even if it has been varnished, unless the seal has been broken. With builders cleans we found it is best to lightly brush and then rinse off any grit before attempting to run a scraper over the glass.
