Title: Calibrate varistream
Post by: reflect on March 06, 2018, 04:57:50 pm
Just wondering what setting to have my pump on.  I’ve noticed that when I turn the aqua dapter off it takes a while for the pump to stop and the system becomes highly pressurised.  When the turn it on again the water burst out. It comes set at C, but I don’t understand what to set the pump to.

Move it down to A and see how it goes. We found that we are into the numbers now, but our Varistreams are 9 years old.

My varistream is 6yrs old. Starting to wonder if it works as it was designed.  On setting A, if I change the flow from 4 to 3,  P appears and the pump stops and then starts.  However if I use the aquadapter all the pump does is grind to a stop as the water fills the system.  I thought that the pump would sense a sudden pressure drop and switch off like it does when I drop the flow rate.  I’m not sure this varistream is doing its job

Then A is too low. I have mine set so it doesn't pulse at 6 but will pulse on and off at 7. I like to run my flow at 5 but I don't use as much water with 4.

We did find an issue with hose. We have 2 hose reels on the van and a number of years ago I bought a new length of 100m of minibore. The hose was nice and managable in the cold but it also swelled under pressure and expanded. When opening the Aquadapter the water would gush out as the stretched pipe returned to normal.  It acted as a reservoir.
When I changed the hose reel the pump ran fine.

I replaced the hose and the problem went away.

That’s interesting about the minibore because I also use that hose.  I thought that the varistream would immediately detect the pressure drop with the aqaudapter and turn the pump off.  The pump  stops after about 10sec because the water backs up. Can’t be good for the system having all that pressure built up. I was thinking it might be time to replace it.

I had this problem all it was is the hose lock  fitting was one of the stop types connecting  onto my hose reel, changed this for a normal one and problem solved.
