Title: Heater
Post by: JandS on March 03, 2018, 03:25:56 pm
Anybody got recommendations for a decent drop in tank immersion heater.
I have a 1kw one of dubious quality, the wire gets very hot after 10 minutes so wanting a decent 2.5kw one if possible or a 3kw one if it's safe to use on domestic electrics.
Having fun melting the ice in my tank at mo and don't want this problem again, it's not solid but don't think the pump would like it either.

Just get yourself one of these. It won’t heat your water but it will keep everything from freezing up. I just keep it on low to keep the air moving.

Oh the fun of keeping things warm ...

Cracked a filter housing by neglecting to drain it and had lots of lovely water gushing over the patio in the early hours as the thaw set in ...  :-[

1. Van immersion on. Check.
2. Fan heater between my two storage tanks where my transfer pump sits. Check.
3. R/O in insulated cupboard under car port by house. Check.
4. Pre-filter cartridge and housing sitting outside of R/O cupboard. OOPS!

The water in my tank is frozen and isn’t defrosting as quick as I’d like it too. So I just nipped to the local aquarium and bought a couple of fish tank heaters . So Iv plopped them in the tank switched on and leave them in all weekend now and hopefully the ice will have gone by tomorrow night ready for Monday morning

If you're pre-filter housing was a 10" version I can recommend this one as a replacement.
At a great price too!

I have a 2KW version of one of these pond heaters I don't use. I bought it and used it once. Pretty much brand new. Its for sale if anyone wants it.
