Title: Bipper/Nemo/Florino
Post by: Stoots on February 20, 2018, 08:17:50 pm
Anyone have one of these tiny vans?

Are they ok for a 1 man setup?

Im looking for a van for employee, these are tempting me due to low cost vs age. If i buy a bigger van its going to cost a lot more.

Not sure whether i should go for one of these or not.

Anyone get on ok with one of these ?

cheers

i had one briefly, with a 350l squeezed in. it was very tight for space and felt well loaded when full but it was adequate.

Unless you really want small for a particular reason I think you would be better served by a Doblo 1.3 with a 736kg payload (pre 2011) and a choice of 750kg or 1000kg later shape.

You can go 400L or 500L and get a full day's use out of it.

No i dont want small for any other reason than i can get a newer van cheaper.

Its for 1 man, window cleaning only, so as long as its sufficent to carry 400l or so  i suppose itll do

Ideally i was going to buy a bigger van but this would mean either spending a lot more than i want to or buying an older potentially more unreliable van.

They are great little vans , cheap as chips to own and run so far .
Will take 350 tops , 2 poles , spares ,tools , gas boiler , 19kg bottle and all the usual .
I went down to a 250 with full backpack and 25L barrel in the end as it suited better , always got home with water left in the 350 .

If you are going to run with min gear then 350 is the best choice if lots of work is anticipated , it will be ample if you think about how you set it up .

I had one, grest little vans with a 350 tank, when full it looked like it was about to take flight so upgrades my rear spring coils for heavy duty ones.

Got a bipper professional, one man set up, 350 litre tank with immersion. Well pleased, plenty of room. No change in driving with a full tank.
Cheap to run, low insurance, very reliable.

Looks like a good bet so far. Employee won't manage with 350l yet but I can

Did a little vid for you today , not great but an idea of the space .
When the 350 was in it only went about 6 inch further back .

Thanks mate, thats much appreciated  :)

What is the payload on yours?

Looks perfectly adequate for a 1 man wfp setup.
Although i notice yours had no bulkhead, i shall have to have a trip to my local van monster this week to take a peak at one.

Buy all accounts they are very good on fuel and insurance ?

I currently have a partner, so its only a bit bigger and ive been using it for a 2 man setup with room to spare.

cheers

They come with 3 types of bulk head i think , full metal , my type , and full the same as mine , when i got mine i had the choice of full metal or mine , i went with mine as it was better for air circulation and meant i didnt need to cut holes to get the poles through .
The only downside is a bit more noise from the back , but that is what the stereo is for aint it  ;D

They are great on fuel and nice to drive , and you can park it anywhere without being a pain !
My payload is 610 .

This is with the 350 in it

Given your user name, you would have to rip out the front seat and sit in the back to drive one of these ;D

looks like a DEATH TRAP.

Aluminium frame?  better hope you're never in a crash.  Or even brake too hard.

Plus, the DI system is resting on top of the battery?!!

Sorry, but I hate it, and it looks highly dangerous.

why did you get rid ?

**** that for a game of soldiers.

No bulk head, gas canister and a big water tank behind you,

Small vans are great but why go to that extreme, vauxhall combo size is fine.

I can only assume Bipper/Nemo/Florino owners have big balls.

The tank was fitted properly by k systems and took this at the time, brilliant little vans,I took the bulkhead out before installation as it gave me an extra right inches, that's a resin bottle, not a gas one,I only got rid a year later because I liked the look at the new Ford Connects L2 Limited.

I just dont get why people get so shirty about gas bottles and no bulk heads , and they also bleat on about crash tested systems ,

1. There is not a bulkhead out there that is going to stop a tank , totally non structural .
2. Gas is fine if respected , every caravan has it , all burger vans have it , why is it seen as ok for them but not w/c's ?
3. Crash tests are fine , but unless the test has been carried out on the identical van that you are going to have fitted out then i dont think that it is worth the paper its written on !

Bit off the track here but look at the 4x4's that have a tendancy to snap in half when they feel like it , you could put a tested system in that , what good would that do you , my point is that you just dont know and never will for sure .

Best thing to do is.

Keep your speed down and dont crash.

I personally wouldn't have gas in my van, I just think it's a risk whether in a crash or just a leak. I don't see the point in risking it when you can run an immersion for cheap.

If anyone else is happy with gas in the van that's up to them.

My tank isn't bolted in it's strapped so I'm not preaching, but I'm happy with it...however for any employees vans it will be bolted.

Just watched ncap crash test video for transit custom vs Nemo.

As i said the drivers have big balls.

Anyways Adam, like you've already said employee's will be bolted my advice is get it done at a garage or an engineering firm.
