Title: Free spark plugs? Why thank you!
Post by: Marc Stock on February 14, 2018, 06:39:07 pm
Just had the mazda serviced today at the local main dealer.

Had all fluids changed, oil and brake fluid.

Paid the bill £420 (ouch) and went home. Anyway noticed that the spark plugs were replaced as well, but these were done last year they are a 60k mile item, and we have only done 9k miles since the last service.

So called them and they conceded that they shouldn't have been done.

So i got a £101 refund  8) 8) and they said..........................................

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) i can keep the plugs.  :P ::)roll

Hahah

it just shows you how ridiculously expensive main dealers are..my local garage will do a full service(including spark plugs)for £150.....

the prices north v south should be taken into consideration too though....my interim service for my van was £80..... ;D

hahahahah nothing wrong with a Demio!  ;D ;D

Its a Mazda 6 2.5 Petrol Sport. 2010 Reg. I know its cheaper to go with an independent garage; but I (the wife) bought the car just as it turned 3 years old back in 2013 and it had full main dealer history then; and i thought you know what I am going to keep servicing at main dealer (stupid to a lot of people i know) as at that point it was the newest car id ever owned in my life  ;D

I have to say; that Guildford Mazda have been very good. Single biggest expense was a gearbox rebuild last year at 130k miles as the input shaft bearings were getting noisy; and that was at Guildford Transmission Services which was around £1k; Guildford Mazda wanted £3995+vat for a new gearbox and even I wasn't going to go down that road. Clutch was replaced at 115k miles; £600 main dealer which isn't bad, considering i was getting quotes from my local independent for £800.

Its £20+vat per spark plug  :o BTW!+ Yes it does appear to use MAGNETI MARELLI Iridium Plugs.
