Have any of you used ring bolts drill fixed into the brickwork of customers houses as an anchor point when cleaning out gutters
Easily sealed after with a spot of mastic and stop ladders slipping.
Just wondering what response I'd get if I mentioned this when trying to sell gutter cleans.

I believe Sky installers use something similar when installing satellite dishes to properties?
However I don't see that it would be practical when clearing gutters because you often have to move the ladder several times and work on at least two sides of the property.
A ladder footing device is a viable alternative.
But I always say if you don't feel confident getting up the ladder, don't do it!
If a customer asks you to clear gutters, you always have the option of saying no.

Yep. No permission to drill an anchor point = no Sky.
The old council properties in Middlesbrough had hooks installed at the corners of each of their properties to tie ladders off. As the workmen worked from one side to the other the straps become longer on one side and shorter on the other.
These days the hooks don't seem to be used much.
I think the issue with ladders and gutter cleans is securing yourself to the ladder so you can use both hands.

We've only used it a couple of times and a waste of money. However, it does a good job of fitting inside the gutter to stop your ladders deforming it. It is also secured on the sides of the gutter with 2 screws and it does stop the ladder slipping side wards. But its weakest link is that it relies on the plastic brackets that hold the gutter to the fascia.

i think its impractical to be messing about doing that.surely its better to either get someone to foot your ladder or buy a professional ladder stabilizing device....or dont offer a gutter clearing service(safest option)....
