Good afternoon all
We have been getting more & more eot letting cleans coming through. We are being asked to do all kinds of things, paint walls, cut the grass etc. One thing we need to suss is the oven cleaning. We have subbed it out on occassion to an oven cleaning firm but as the work has increased, we have had to look at costs, consiquently we do not have the £50 margin in the jobs anymore. All the letting companies want is a reasonable job on the oven & hob, the majority of the properties are student lets! I was looking at carbon off, has anyone used this product before?

carbon off is highly caustic and is similar in formula to paint stripper so beware you can do a lot of damage ,ie any painted finnishes will be stripped,aluminium will be effected by the caustic.also the fumes are very unpleasant
unless you want to invest a couple of thousand in a bio degradable set up with heated tank it is better to continue to sub out the work.
if you must do it yourself then the best chemical is staples heavy duty de greaser. this is also caustic but as long as you don't use it on aluminium you will be ok.

I do exactly the same thing. We go in clean the property tidy the garden remove all left furniture and rubbish and tidy up any decor. We always clean the ovens ourselves and find that Jangro oven cleaner is excellent. Preheat the oven slightly spray the cleaner on and leave it for 20 minutes. Most stubborn grime just wipes of. Our main problem is getting the racks spotless, but as you say the letting agents just want them clean enough to use.

Tried the Jangro stuff :o that is some strong oven cleaner!!Used one of them coily wire things to get the hard baked on stuff off. One mistake I made was I took the shelves and bits out and tried to clean them seperately. This made the job take a lot longer, I will spray it all & cook it a bit next time.

Glad you found the Jangro oven cleaner was good.
I have just picked up a stainless steel tank from an end of tenancy clear out so I am going to try the astonish cleaning tablets in hot tap water and see if they will bring the racks up any better, will let you know how I get on.

I do residential cleaning for a Retirement Options Company.It sometimes involves everything;- painting/decorating/carpets and a full clean.
I use a range of environmenta/bio-degradable products and never have any problems.
