Title: Bolting down tank frame advice needed please
Post by: jd services on January 28, 2018, 07:10:15 pm
Who do you guys get to bolt water tank frame to chassis?  Is it a specialist company or a general mechanic job? it doesn't sound like a DIY job to me but would be interested in any comments. I'm not keen on buying a complete new system as I'd rather transfer the system in my beat up and dodgy looking Scudo to a newer van. I'm in Aldershot GU12...cheers Dave

My mechanic usually does it for me , you need someone who understands how to distribute the weight properly and where to put the bolts, ask your local garage

Can be done easy enough if the holes in the tank are all going through the bodywork and nothing else, depending on ur vehicle it could be a case of exhaust, fuel tank etc being removed.
I took mine to a local car dealer which had a body shop repair centre, got the guys in the to do it

Hi Dave,

I'm in Aldershot, I got my mobile mechanic to bolt down my tank. I supplied the spreader plates and all fittings and he fitted it in 20 mins. Charged me an hour's Labour which was only about £40.
Give him a call, he's also a great mechanic! He services my van and car every year and all repairs/maintenance as and when needed, at great prices.
His name his Paul , company name is One stop mobile repairs.

Thanks for the useful advice Paul, Matt, Shrek.

Chris...I'll ask One Stop. I need a regular mechanic anyway as the guy I've relied on for the last 15 years has packed it in.

Chris...How's it going with Wellesley?
