I have the iPhone 6. Contract is up today had loads of calls from companies offering me new phones/deals but I've decided to keep my phone and have a sim only 12 month contract for £9 a month for 5G data, unlimited minutes and texts!
-
Galaxy s8 its great.
-
had mine less than 3 months and the batteries died(sony xperia XA1 ultra)very annoying...im taking it back on sunday.cant replace the battery either as its a sealed unit! ::)roll >:(.it lasts literally 10 mins and it dies and thats with a full charge.....
-
I always used to go for the flagship Samsung Phones. I had the S4 when it came out, the S6 Edge after that; you know what i realised?
Its a great big flipping con. And that edge phone was a disaster; so slippery and stupid to hold
I have a Galaxy A3 now; best phone i have ever owned. Better in terms of reliability and practicality than the flagship phones i had before.
way before i was window cleaning i used to work in a phone shop, this was back in 1998. Samsung phones back then were the cheap trash. Nokia and Ericsson were the leaders Its funny how things change isn't it?

My Mrs went through a few Samsung phones on contract, they all developed faults within 12 months.
I wouldn't have one.
I bought her a sim free iPhone 18 months ago and then another for myself.
They have both been faultless.

iPhone 7

i may be wrong and its just an opinion, but i believe samsung phones are excellent when you first get them, the best cameras and all that , however at the end of the contract not many people still have the original phone, however with an apple product most still have the phone and upgrade to the next one, pretty easy to fix as well
-
i actually got an iphone 6 stollen out of my van so went for an iphone 7 very good but i cant tell the difference between the two
-
samsung s7 , had a iphone se but had issues and sent the dam thing back in the 1st week, so gone back to samsung
-
I had an iPhone 6 for 2 1/2 years, loved it, with no issues at all, upgraded to the iPhone 8 Plus just 3 months ago, love this phone even more.
-
best phone ive had was a samsung note 3.lasted 3 years with no issues.i think ill go with another one of these.the sony phones are crap...
-
I got the wife the xa1 and it's fine but the last Sony had issues which was fixed when she got the new one, I needed to fix it via their website and it deleted everything so it would have been pita.
I'm on my third phone with five months left of the two year contract, first was a windows phone which was good until I dropped it down the loo onto a chocolate log! next up was a Motorola which had issues with gravity and then last may I bought a Huawei P10 lite which is a very good phone. Huawei p10 lite is far cheaper than an iPhone but better on processing power and battery is better.
-
I have an iPhone 4s.
Yes it's ancient but it does all I want it to do.

Just noticed how much they have dropped in price! Very very cheap; https://www.idmobile.co.uk/shop/pay-monthly/huawei-p10-lite

Samsung Galaxy S8. However, I buy my phones from private sales (someone upgrading their contract and cashing in on the phone). So, I paid £400 for the S8 (brand new, sealed) when it first came out last year (still selling for more now) but have it on a sim-only deal with the network provider. Best of both worlds, you just have to be patient!! Wife and daughter have iphones and IMO they are inferior in comparison to Samsung!

It's not opinion. It's fact.
In every measurable way.

I have an iPhone 6 for work and a 7+ for out of work. The 6 is from when the wife upgraded to an 8. I’m not a massive Apple fan, but prefer the OS to Android. I did have a couple of Android phones as well as a Windows phone (deadful).

'Had' renders your opinion irrelevant. While apple have been removing headphone jacks and fingerprint scanners, android has come along leaps and bounds. Nougat and latterly Oreo are more polished than previous versions. Even an old duffer like you could use it.
Apple continually take years old android tech and try to pass it off as their invention. £1000 for the iPhone X (a phone so terrible that it's rumoured apple are already planning to axe it) is a slap in the face for the apple fanboy zombies. Then they admit to deliberately rendering their old phones unusable. Shameful behaviour.
-
One thing that always amuses me is just how poor apple phones are at.... well, being phones! Where 'ever we are, my Samsung always has a better/stronger signal than the wife's iPhone (same network). We can sit them next to each other and mine always has the upper hand.

Much seems to be down to the age of the user.
I'm 49 and my idea of a replacement phone is another one like I have already, only newer.
iPhone's are apparently not bought by the young, cool and hip people.
iPhone's are bought by their parents.
I have an iPhone 6.

My phone will be 5 years old next month. A Motorola something or other (I can't even remember the name) and it does what I want.
The alarm clock and YouTube have stopped working but apart from that, it works as well as it did the day I bought it.
I couldn't hate or love a phone. It's a phone and I don't want to look after it. I'm too cool for all that 8).
I might consider getting another tough not so smartphone after he's turned 5 and put him out to stud. He's done enough.
I might get one of the Chinese ones next; they look good value.
-
The good thing with the Lenovo or Motorola phones is they have a coating on the board which helps protect them from moisture, technically they're not waterproof but the board does have protection. The screens are also very tough which most high end phones lack especially iphones. I wouldn't do as the youtubers do and put them in a bowl of water and hit them with hammers just to see how good it is.
-
I have a iphone 5 and the only reason I bought it was to play my music whilst working as I have over 1800 songs on it oh and use it to make phone calls an texts, don't bother with the internet on a phone, too small a screen and don't want a tablet size phone to make phone calls. When it packs up I will replace it with a cheap nasty one, can't see the point in spending ridiculous money on whatever trendy phone is going, I just don't get what there is to get excited about phones, they all do roughly the same thing. I have a decent car, goes like sugar off a shovel, now that gets me excited going 0-60 in next to nothing but phones don't do anything for me, just don't get it
-
Also One Plus 5, had the 3 before. Great phones, great battery, fast charge, great price. SIM only with Three, 14Gb, unlimited texts and calls for £14. 😁
-
I had a Note 4 just before I got the oneplus 5t
It was a great phone
The oneplus is FANTASTIC

Apart from the x they still have the fingerprint scanner, the lack of a headphone jack has caused me no issues at all , the old phones become speedy again as soon as you fit a new battery , my old 5s still works fine just a bit slower ( i have an 8 plus now).
i have had 3 samsungs and all three were un reliable and the os was and still is terrible compared to apple , in my opinion .
And it is just opinion and not fact , you can have a car thats technically superior in every way but you might still enjoy a technically lesser car more .
-

Nope.
A phone is not a car. Best car I've had was a 1.5 MK1 VW Jetta. Almost every car I've had since has been technically better but none of them changed my life.
-
Samsung Core Prime dual SIM. Always had dual SIM, use 1 SIM for personal and the other for business. Different ringtones for each.
-
Got the iphone X upgraded from the 7plus, i think i slightly preferred the different screen shape on the 7plus but i do love the X. There's no way it's worth a £999 lol. I bought mine with no contract as my sim is like £9 a month.
There's news of an XL iphone, the biggest screen ever in an iphone coming in Sept this year.....
The thing i love about technology now is the fact i do 90% of running my business from a phone!
-
To be honest I was only Apple Fanboy baiting (normally the easiest sport on the internet - not many biters on here though).
At the end of the day, ALL modern flagship phones do almost exactly the same jobs. The differences now are pretty trivial.
Still £1000 for a phone that if you drop and crack the BACK, will cost £500+ to fix? No ta, my 5t has nearly 3x the RAM, does everything either very nearly as well or better, and cost 1/2 as much.
-
Galaxy S8....had the S6 and S4 before that and never had a problem......the S8 is better than the other two because they have taken a lot of the apps that cluttered up the other two that you would probably never use anyway.
Thought the I phone was part Samsung anyway...don't they use the same screen as Samsung that Samsung developed?

Got mine insured plus I don't get the whole breaking screens and phones thingy. A chap who works with us broke three screens last year? Three! I've yet to break a phone and had mobiles for over 20 years now. I always fit a screen protector, decent case and i am careful.
I could easily run my business from a £300 phone and i think the X is a joke for a £1000. If they release an Xs which is slightly better will i buy it....yep.

Insurance for anything that isn't going to break the bank or is mandatory is pointless. Especially if you're careful.

I’m not an Apple fan boy at all. Normally they aren’t too bright and say that there £1,000 Mac is faster than their £300 laptop so Macs are better.

I have just upgraded from this to an iphone se , really could not get on with the windows phone found it slow and would never connect to internet , not that i ever really use it like that , i have always only wanted a phone that had a camera and made calls thats it for me .
Never had a flagship phone as i always went more for the (free) telly or console ! Free my arse ;D
-
While we are on the subject of phones though , i am getting on with the SE but , it takes pics in PNG for some gash reason , so now if i want to say put a pic on here , i have to media cable it to my laptop then convert it then post it , which is a right feckin ballache !
Anybody any wiser than me ???
-
Standard Apple compatibility issues.
-
Yes , it wont even bluetooth to windows :(
God knows what issues i will get if i want to do a video , not tried that yet .
No doubt i will need a Mac for that ;D
-
I like small phones so I had a Sony Xperia z3 compact because it was waterproof. Nothing special at all and the bit that made it waterproof broke off.
Now i've got an Apple SE, it's ok but i'm not really into phones.
I don't think the camera is any better either, cause I still look ugly in selfies! ;D
-
Ive always stuck with samsungs and never had a problem. Yet fancied a change on last upgrade back in november 2017 and got a free ps4 for my lad with my siny experia xa1. Its now been sent in for repairs yesterday as it keeps shutting off even with 95% battery. The only way I could turn it in was to plug in the charger.
Fair to say im not happy with the phone.
Ive not gone expensive with my phones as in the past I could go through 3 phones a year. Dropping them or loosing them etc etc.
Yet ive done well for last 2 years and had the same one.
My package gives me 15gb data, unlimted calls n texts etc.
I use the data for online banking, paypal app and gocardless. Not to mention my you tube channel or more importantly this forum on my coffee breaks

An easy way is to select the photo you want to send on your iPhone, then tap the upload button on the phone which will be in the bottom left corner of the screen.
Then select the Mail symbol and email it to yourself.
Open the email on your home pc, save picture in file of your choice (pictures or documents etc.) and Robert's yer mum's brother.

I had thought about that but its just as long winded as the media cable method , plus i still have to compress it to JPEG after .
I just was never meant to win !

I have a Samsung something S whatever. 5 years old. It does all I want.
£7 a month for unlimited calls and texts and 4 gigabytes of data.
-
Samsung S8. Never could understand why anyone will pay a premium for an I phone.

I dunno, maybe the email method isn't that straight forward then.
Have you got the icloud photos software installed on your pc?
My iPhone seems to magically transport photos from my phone to my windows 10 pc which end up in the icloud photos folder in Jpeg form without any cables involved.

Is it me or has all the mods gone on holiday this topics got nothing to do with Window cleaning and it 3 pages in I'm shocked 😲

I usually start with the latest phone at the begining of my contract and after a year when I've dropped it in the bath or smashed it I'll buy a cheaper one.
Last couple of years I've found phone's in the £150 -£250 range to be perfectly adequate and fast enough for me so I no longer get the best. The one I have now was only £100, have a Nokia 3 at the moment and it's fine. Not really into phone's anymore like I used to be.

im sending my xperia XA1 ultra off to be repaired.less than 3 months old and the battery is foooked.ended up buying a samsung galaxy S8plus with a 10% staff discount yesterday.still cost me £700!but its a much better phone (esp the camera)than the sony and i hope to get at least 2 or 3 years out of it(my note 3 lasted nearly 3 years).
not sure what to do with the sony one when i get it back.ill probably sell it or keep it as a spare/back up phone.
so ive spent a grand on 2 phones in 3 months....i must be crazy! ;D ;D

Had my S8 now for 8 months and yesterday decided to download and read the user manual....wow is there some good stuff on it...still getting my head round Bixby but it's clever.

Ditch Bixby, Google assistant is far superior.

I couldn't work without my phone I couldn't text customer night before, I wouldn't get any new business without my phone either!! If my van breaks down in the middle of nowhere then I'll use it again to get help etc! I could go on! There is always one that thinks he's a know all isn't there!
