Ive been using the gardeners brushes . Just wondered what the “in brush “ is at the moment... I’m due to replace ...thanks in advance
-
Constructor, not to everyone's liking :)
-
Again not to everyone's liking but a 14inch stream line dual trimmed, short stiff bristles.
Great with either hot or cold water
-
ive just ordered 4 xtreme brushes and 4 ultimate brushes(all stiff bristle versions).hopefully they ll last me a while. :)
-
Just about to order the sale brushes on Gardiners £18.60 each.

ive got them brushes too mate.in fact i reckon ive got around 30+ brushes knocking about. ::)roll ;D
most of them are knackered or too heavy to use day in/day out.
the xtremes and ultimate brushes just make for a much easier working day.
-
Wot he just said ^^^ stiff for hot / medium for cold ;D
-
Extreme brushes are only good for either Georgian windows or plate glass they are useless on leaded Windows.
-
You must have got a duff one then , mine work lovely , can be a tad jumpy but angle the brush or go side to side and down and the glide like a ...........erm , uhhh , .....Glider ;D
-

the xtreme brushes are great on some pockets of my work with lots of awkward angle windows.they make this work so much easier.for full leaded jobs i use a flocked ultimate.

Extreme soft is one of the best brushes Iv found for leaded windows if using cold, problem is they cant handle hot.
-
Extreme medium mixed for repeat work, extreme stiff for fascia cleaning and will occasionally use a supreme medium mixed for
a really bad first clean.
-
Stop it you orrible lot , you are confusing the poor lad now ;D ;D ;D
-
Ultimate medium (white one)
I was using the ultimate yellow one but it just takes forever cleaning crap off the windows & frames

I'm confused myself, now taken half the stuff out the basket and looking at wcw for a new hose and fittings. All I wanted to order is different brushes in the sale section and after watching Alex's 26 minute video I'm no further on!
I'm blaming Dazmond!
-
supreme medium mixed is my brush of choice.
-
If I had to advise anyone starting WFP I would say to them save yourself hundreds of pounds and buy 1x extreme the Natural bristle version 1 x medium mono the black and white ultimate 1 x yellow and white medium ultimate and 1x black flocked. That is all the brushes needed to clean every kind of window out there more or less and I’ve tried dozens all manufacturers, the above brushes are all Gardiner’s. Like I say only my opinion but I’ve tried so many different types and weights but always go back to the above.

the xtreme natural bristle is the best scrubber but their pants nigel.ive had 2 that have clumped together bristles now after limited useage.absolute waste of money.useless now and nearly £60 down the drain.their even worse with hot water! ::)roll
-
I only ever buy that brush for work above 30 odd feet m8 any lower the black and white ultimate is on the pole,I use the yellow and white if I feel I need to scub a wee bit more on the sides of the frames or sills.
-
got my 8 brushes delivered this morning.just need to screw on quik lock fittings from old brushes/spares.i think ill do that on saturday when i change my microbore. :)

-
SL (STIFF DUAL TRIM)- mainly used for larger jobs with deep ledges on a carbon gooseneck or really dirty first cleans
SL(FLOCKED DUAL TRIM)-used for solar panels on a 90 degree carbon gooseneck
ULTIMATE(STIFF DUAL TRIM)-regular work
ULTIMATE(FLOCKED SINGLE TRIM)-leaded windows/wooden windows
XTREME(STIFF)-mainly used for awkward angle window work and F/S/G cleans

My favourite is the extreme natural bristle (bad elbows and Coeliac decease) means I prefer a lighter brush.
However since my diagnosis last year, I have put weight on and am getting stronger (Yay!) So today I tried an ultimate medium (very scratchy over the glass but good) and an ultimate flocked (again very good but very slow over the glass). It was exciting stuff! :o
But...I prefer my extreme natural bristle. I think the scrubbing is better and the reduced weight makes it quicker and easier. I did a first clean this morning with an extreme stiff (behave yourselves!) and it worked great.
I may take a leaf out of Nathan's book (I said book not video!!!) and try a 35cm brush with 4 jets. ;D
PS I use an old extreme flocked brush on leaded and it's fantastic (why don't they make these anymore?). I also have a brand new one I bought years ago and haven't used yet!

ive just binned 2 of them natural bristle extremes after limited usage.great scrubbing power for a light brush but the natural bristles clump together and this renders them useless after a short time.the hot water destroyed them and finished them off! ::)roll
-
Daz, that's a shame, I don't use hot water (wish I did, but I can't park the van near the house). I think my brushes last well considering.
-
Daz, following on from my previous post, I think, at the moment, all brushes are designed with cold water in mind.
I think what Alex does, is work out which brushes will 'best suit' hot water and recommend those. And fair play to him.
There are so many hot water users now (I would like to be one of them) that there needs to be a brush that can take hot water but still have a suppleness and flexibility about it, with that gentle 'caress' of the glass; basically the scrubbing power without the harshness. Possibly a very difficult 'nut to crack'.
Over to you Alex; a 'hot water' range of brushes!

The reason for having introduced the Stiff version brushes was for hot water use by clients - many clients like the feel of these on the glass with hot water.
By nature when heated the bristle materials become softer. However hot water users use varying temperature water - so what is supple and flexible for one hot water user at 50°C for another user at 30°C may not feel supple or 'caressing' enough.
To cater for this we would have to introduce a range of varying stiffness brushes - perhaps at 30°C, 40°C and 50°C - so the current Stiff versions could be the 50°C brush and then degrees of stiffness down from that to our current medium-mixed versions.
It would be a challenge to accurately address each of these temperature bands without confusing the brush choice even further ;D
-
^^^ My thoughts exactly ;D ;D ;D

Alex, thank you for your reply.
I am sure that if there is anyone 'best placed' to address these issues and meet the challenges, then you are, without doubt, 'the man' to do so.
Happy New Year to you and all your staff.
P.S. To save confusion you could call them:
Hot 30 range
Hot 40 range
Hot 50 range
It seems to be the way the industry is going! SWOT analysis and all that!
You could even sell a device, so window cleaners could accurately tell the temperature of the water at the brush head!
Oh how I love (hate) marketing! ;D

im not daft mate i know which brushes work better will cold/hot water etc.
the xtreme natural bristle brushes clumped together with cold water but the hot water made them even worse! ::)roll ;D
-
Don't remember saying you were daft! ::)roll
-
I use the sextremes, everything else is too heavy
-
I've got two brushes, a black one with soft bristles and fan jets ( leaded windows and fascias ) and a white one with medium bristles and pencil jets. They are both from Gardiners but beyond that I can't remember or really care, they do what they are meant to do, good enough for me. At the end of the day ......... its a brush.
-
Daz, for the money you spend on brushes, I could put together a nice diy van, tank system 😂

Alex, what brush would you recommend for hot water use, preferably 14" and not flocked. If not 14" when will it be available ;) You cant be cleaning windows with 12" brushes these days, thats so 1980's.
Thanks.

And I thought that a Squeegee was so 1980s ;D
14" = 35cm for us Europeans (well we are currently)
In our 35cm range we have the Ultimate Stiff-Medium (http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/water-fed-poles/brushes/ultimate-brushes/ultimatetm-35cm-wide-brush-stiff-bristles.html) which is good for water up to 45°C
We do have coming soon a 35cm Ultimate brush in full Stiff Bristles (see photo of the 26cm version) which will be good for water up to 75°C

I'm 61 next month
Always kept fit playing footy, running, squash etc.
Knackered joints now so it's swimming, walking etc.
I work about 11 days a month now, I've got hobbies, a wife and two sons/daughter in law and charity work to keep me busy the rest of the time.
My ICI pension will kick in, in 4 years then at 67 state pension.
I'll keep my hand in till 67, albeit reducing all the time, finances allowing.
I'm selling stuff off that's further from home and getting up later and finishing earlier
Like to keep occupied
Thanks for asking Daz
Also love my gigs, how did you enjoy your recent one? Who was it? Thunder something or other I believe 😁

I've been going between a 12" sl med mix for the dirtier windows and gfs and an Xtreme™ 35cm Wide Brush - Medium Mixed Bristles which I bought 18 months ago, I'm sure the xtreme 35cm is actually stiff outer bristles and not medium as it states on my order. I also bought an Xtreme Hybrid Brush - Medium Mixed Bristles which has cleaned about two windows! kept smacking the frames so stopped using it and tried it the other day and soon remembered why I don't use it!
I like the 35cm brush size so ordered the Ultimate 35cm Wide Brush - Stiff-Medium Bristles which should give me more scrubbing power over the xtreme. (hopefully be here tomorrow now)
Just noticed delivery at the back door so I'll be trying out these new brushes tomorrow. Unlike Daz it's not often I order new brushes so I might even give it a try after my dinner!
