I have a leak from one of the reels. My question is, could the leak be coming from inside the spindle itself as that’s what it looks like. I’d rather not waste my time connecting new hose if the reel’s knackered.

One of the local lads had an issue with a leak on the spindle where the hose connector screws into it. It was a 'plastic' spindle. I seem to remember PF sent him out a new spindle.

yes you can, had one crack when frozen one year and it was on the join where there thread is to the main spindle

Cheers. The leak doesn’t appear to be coming from the connection. I’ll give them a call. See if they can collect and repair and fit a new hose. I have had them arrive leaking before though.

Iv just took mine apart and put some ptfe on all connections as mine was leaking too. P.i.t.a. But it’s sorted now I think

certain pure freedom reels are renowned for this problem.its the plastic spindle......
my advice?...buy a different reel and save yourself the hassle....

Depends on the age new design has no spindle but they use a hose lock inside so this may require a new o ring
All mine are the slightly older style with spindle (plastic) on the one that leaked I ptfe’d the thread been good for the last 18 months
When assembled it may not have been nipped up enough

I had the same problem twice.Think it was an issue with the older reels.
One was within warranty and they sent out a new spindle, as it is all in one piece.
Second time I had to pay, but the spindle had been upgraded and much better quality and fitting.
Find them very helpful when you give them a call, and goods sent out sharpish.
