Title: what van?
Post by: lee_dewing on December 18, 2017, 09:55:28 am
Due to demise of current van "ford escort"

What small van do you think next.

Due to water system at parents and no off street parking I use 10x 25 litre barrels a day, pump box hose reel and carry a ladder for some gates and flat roofs.

Been comparing load space of ford escort to new vans and suprised to see ford escort has longest loading length 1823 mm off top of my head.

Looks like new shape Vauxhall combo bed for space (takes it same van as fiat doblo?)
Think Granville gold has/had doblo?

Next was citoren berlingo (Peugeot partner).

Then ford transit connect.

Only problem with shorter load length is putting pole in van.

But all vans now are taller inside so could angle pole to fit.

I have slx 25 pole.

Thanks everyone.
Lee.

I just recently ordered a lwb  doblo coming in Jan they have great payload and floor space for the money. Selling my lwb transit connect when it arrives with 500lt pure freedom tank and frame and split charge relay if it's of any interest. A slx 25 would need the brush head angled down to fit in the lwb connect though.

I had a transit connect for 11 years it was great. I needed something bigger so I sold it to my brother. He is an mot tester and it’s still going strong.

My Doblo is/was a 56 plate 1.3 multijet. Now used by Dan the man. Always had a 400L in it.

736kg  payload. Very pleased with it. No cambelt either which is nice.

The Berlingo is a very  popular van , plenty of load space, and will do around 50mpg( so Im told by an owner)..
I cant see us getting that good a return, given the nature of the business, stop start and short journeys.
All the same though, they have loads of storage space, the passenger seat base lifts up to allow for storage, It would be too small for me, the down side of it is the driving compartment, again too small, even with seat right back and wheel at the highest setting, my 6ft plus frame wouldnt fit comfortably, knees still touching bottom of steering wheel.
