Hi guys looking at getting a 22ft pole and wondered what the difference was between the ones in question? And are they a fair bit lighter the slx ?

I don't feel a huge difference in weight between extreme and slx.
The extreme is more rigid though so makes it easier to use when extended.
I did buy an extreme for myself as my slx 27 was too heavy for day in day out, the wife has the extreme now and I have just split my pole down to an slx18. I'm happy with it.

It's one of those things that you need to try yourself (if possible) to feel what the poles like when extended. Otherwise you can only go with the stats on the website which might not be as simple when in use.

I think 18 foot poles leave one more vulnerable to neck problems. I used one for a while and I had more acute problems than the usual. I think you’re better extending the pole further to stand further back. 22 for me suits. I absolutely hate getting the 30 out. Probably that’s where a xtreme would be handy, but too expensive.

Bang on post , 18 reaches most windows for me , but i do find myself over stretching on the odd window as i cant be arsed to get the next section out !
Instead of the slx 18 , my next will be slx 22 and run that for everything , its either that or go for the lightest 45 pole and break that down to a 22 and have the rest as add ons .

I prefer the extreme range for lightness. The other day I cut down a carbon Facelift pole for domestic work and could notice the difference in rigidity compared to Gardiners, downside was the clamps, not so keen on the old Facelift clamps but the pole much stiffer, trade off.

Thats exactly what i did to my facelift not long back , it was a 42 or 45 as i recall but it wouldnt fit in the new van without blocking the side door , i lopped about a foot off each section and it fits lovely now ;D
But it is way stiffer than slx and the clamps are indeed not that good ;D

Definitely easier on the neck than my previous 18slx although I do miss the lightness, the 22slx feels a fair bit heavier than the 18! I don’t find the 22 whipy what so ever just heavy 🙁..
probably not worth upgrading to an extreme if the weight doesn’t drop too much..

I use the top four sections of an extreme 25 (so an "extreme 20") which being the same section cross-section size as an 18, is almost as light.
Just that the sections are about 6" longer.
