Title: Quote this House please
Post by: [GQC] Tim on June 17, 2006, 09:51:34 am
Hi guys, I'm starting up my own Window Cleaning, but I think I finally got the pricing stuff down in my head....now I was wondering if you could check if I got it right, I took some pics of my parents house, tell me what you think.

I'd charge £17,50

Too much?

And what about the gutters? any ideas? :)

Also, what is the best way to keep your rubbers in good shape? any good tips on that?

Many thanks,

I see, I got a pricing scheme set up, one was 15 and the other one 17,50 (which is a bit optimistic then I suppose lol)

How about the gutters? how would you price them? :)

Sorry no idea on the gutters I dont do them and the only one I did price up the customers jaw nearly hit the floor when I quoted her  ;D Its good you have a pricing scheme set up though, I think most when they start up just go by what they think they can get, and end up undercharging untill their round is so full they can weed out the rubbish.

I'd charge around £10 - £12 for the windows 4 weekly & between £15 - £18 for an 8 weekly clean.
Between £25 - £30 for the gutters each side.
I'm In Newton Abbot near Torquay

Ring a local window cleaner to come and give you a price, you'll then find out how much you can charge around your area.

alright, guess I was right on my first self quote lol, that's great because I know my pricing scheme works then :) (knowledge = power, and with this forum...wow hehe)

But ehm...don't people's jaw drop to the floor when you say, well £20 a side

people = :o :o :o ?

And is there any trick to preserve the squeezy rubber when not in use? :0

thnx again, your info is greatly appreciated

Yeah some peoples jawes do drop but if they are serious about having them cleaned they will pay it.

Remember gutterings are hard work and do hurt your arms somtimes and only need doing once a year or even once every 2 years so  i make it worth my while. ;D

Like Stuart says,

Yes people do expect it to cost less but remember this.

1) Your working up a ladder.
2) You cleaning gunge and smelling debris out of gutters!
3) The end job is a long process
4) The client is normally too lazy or scared of height!!

Its your time, so charge for it.

Think how many houses you could clean in the same time. If your out of pocket cleaning gutters then why do them?

Best of luck,

Trev

p.s. squeegees are here today and can be gone tomorrow. You could fit a brand new blade, clean a window, miss a bit of sharp grit on the glass and put a nick in your blade straightaway!! Its just pot luck how long they last.

Is the house a semi or is it all of the house shown ?

I think the picture could cause some confusion ?

Dave

All of the house is shown in the picture, it's a semi, it's the right house :) (Semi is two houses under 1 roof right? Not originally from England, only been here for less then a year, from Holland)

:)

ok one last question, my parents house has some parts of the drive way with pebbles.....I dunno, it seems kinda dangerous...would it be ok with the standard ladder safety rubbers? or should I use my  LadderMat

I would charge £12 for the windows as there pretty easy ones to clean and £60 for the guttering.

I think £17.50 is a bit optimistic but hey if you can get it go for it.
