Some custys who you invest a bit of time in throughout the year, then give you nothing at Christmas....dump them? ;D
-
Im still at zero... that is £0 in tips.
Last year was under 20 quid so im not sure if i will get off the mark or not, cant see it to be honest.
-
I’m doing ok so far, seems to come where you least expect it, the terraced house is a lot more generous than the detached house!
-
bad year for tips, then a customer offers me a fiver and I say "it doesn't matter" normally they then say "no take it" she didn't lol
-
It is getting worse every year , i have had wine and chocs and odd fivers off my run of the mill work ,but last week i did a run of 13 half million quid houses and not a feckin orange or nut in sight !
-
Ive all but given up on counting my tips, since ive switched. I think that they think we have it too easy now for the money we/i charge ;D
-
Used to get 100’s in tips, but now it’s all online payments, get about £50!
-
Had my best ever tips this week one was never to eat yellow snow and the other not to count my change over a grate!!
-
For me its not about tips though , im just happy to have their custom , and if you believe that you suck rod ;D
-
£5 so far - a £3 and a £2.
Don't think I've ever had much more than £100 in a season and don't think I've had much less than £90 either.
-
I'm getting around £50 in tips a week on average, yesterday about £30 alone. Either i am doing something right or y'all are doing something wrong lol ;D ;D
Had about half a dozen crimbo cards already given too me too. Need to find somewhere to put them. Anyone got ideas. Maybe i could use them for the log burner :D
-
Ive not tried it myself, but one dayi will.
A friend i know, when trad working as well would buy a bottle of wine and a wine box carrier for it. One if those carriers where you can put more bottles in and pretend or let others think that a customer gave it to him. Clever, really because it worked amazingly well for him

Sounds like a bit of a pikey thing to do.

Don't worry about it Nathan if your happier having switched then that's all that counts, wouldn't let a few homophobes get you down. lol.
-
a bottle of rose wine, a box of chocolates plus £114 up to now but i should get a lot more in the next 2 weeks before xmas.i usually get £400-£500 every year and have done for years now but times are changing with more electronic payments and less and less collecting.

Now now Sean, just because i turned down your advances in that club the other night, theres no need for this ;D ;D ;D

I'm off the mark. £7 tip this morning!
Dumped 2 custys so I'm down overall but nevermind.
-
Lot less than in the old days but I don't mind as we spend a lot less time collecting due to electronic payments I only collect one evening and one Saturday per month now, saving time and diesel. The majority of my customers are out when we clean so rarely see them anyway . If any customers do offer a tip this is given to my daughter who works with me. When I wish my customers a merry Christmas I mean it, it's not said in hope of getting a tip ;D
-
Well done Adam hope you can push on to the £20 mark now onwards and upwards

Where would he put the crate and bottle so that the customers could see it?

I am interested to know the reason for dumping the 2 customers?

Perhaps you need to get out more.

It's always nice to receive a tip at the door.
I'm always surprised by the on line tip, I wonder if they must think "Will he notice the extra amount"
-
Bottle of red wine today.

Hope you didn’t do that ridiculous pikey stunt Nathan’s mate did.

I take a shopping trolley, not the deep one, the one you use when you need a few bits. I tell them I'm collecting food and booze for the homeless. Works well.
-
What does work is having a pocket of bronze and small silver change. Then when they pull a 20 for a 10 pound job, i pull out a handfull of change
Haha ;D
-
I was cleaning an average house this afternoon and it snowed here in Poole, for about 20 mins. When I finished she came out and gave me 7 quid tip and thanked me for cleaning them in the snow. :o
-
Duncan why an earth would you refuse tips 😲and it is true if you carry a bottle of wine around it makes them remember that it's Christmas oh and also my customers know when the Christmas hat goes on that's last clean that works as Well
-
A Tin of Cadburys chocolate biscuits, and a 15 euro tip this week, Xmas has come early this year ;D

Ok.
I shall expand for you sir.
First one no answer to open up round back even though she knew I was coming. No answer last time either so was skipped. After I had got gear out rung bell and knocked a few times, waited 5 mins and put all my gear back in van she came dashing out with a bin bag straight past me to bin lorry. Straight back past me into the house and door closed. Time waster so dumped.
Second on was a first clean that I had quoted online, got there and no where to park as it was a terraced house down an awkward street, back access was through a neighbour's garden which was full of dog poop. So that never happened as too awkward for me.

Thanks Adam, always interesting to hear.
The first one sounds like an ignorant so and so, no choice but to dump really if she wont communicate with you.

They sound like a pair of typical facebook custies , exactly why i dont do the FB bit anymore , its either the crap that nobody else wants or messers

I have gained quite a lot of customers via facebook, and most of them are fine.
That said, I would have dropped the 2 that Adam Thompson described like a stone.
John.

First one was a canvassed customer. Second a FB, but wasn't really her fault 2nd one was mine for not checking.
Messer's come from all over. I have far more issues with canvassed work that I do FB or leaflets.
-
all my tippers get a xmas card from me, just my personal touch, only the ones who tip. just a way of saying thankyou. the race is on to get them all cleaned before the 22/dec, i can relax and do any i have missed out then. ;D
-
On £84 and a bottle of wine with a day of work left before Xmas. I reckon it will be £90/£100 ish again.
£53 of those tips came in the last two days.
-
im on £320,2 bottles of wine and a box of chocs currently but last day tomorrow and collecting tomorrow evening so i think itll be nearer £400 (plus i usually get a few in the first week back after new year.)
last year it was £430 and i fully expect itll be near that this year too.we ll see.
-
Just approaching £300 at the moment plus several bottles of wine, a couple of box's chocolates, a homemade Christmas cake and a couple of pressies.
Lovely jubbly (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1513923303_grin.gif)
-
Just hit the £500 mark in tips, up from last years £330, I must be doing something right ;D
-
Probably just over £200. And a bottle of wine.
One job we did for a customer was £450, and she gave an extra £50, which was nice.
Most customers are DD and not in when we clean so less than it used to be.
-
I doubt more than £50 from 1,300 customers. Tight feckers!
-
How you getting on Adam did you make double figures on the tips, I'm on £200 plus two bottles of wine which is decent from my usual amount
-

Im around the £15.00 mark. Thing is I've been one property for the last 7 working days, so that's that really, no way of getting anything from other customers. When I get back to work after Christmas I'll be about a month behind. ??? ???
When I went WFP it coincided with me starting to take online payments. It was the combination of the two that but the brakes on any tips. I used to get about £300. Now Im lucky to get £50.00.
-
£300 so far!
-
50p and a home grown cabbage ::)roll
-
Ive, a tip............
......keep youre tips in a safe place.
About 3 weeks ago I started putting aside in an envelope on top of some paperwork . Boss decided she'd have a tidy up and threw out the envelope with 25 in it.
We moved a week ago out to the sticks ( well for us anyway ). I started to stash my tips in a little box . The boss was on annual leave and being as disorganised as usual had no cash for a bus to go Xmas shopping, turns the place upside down looking for my stash, finds it, subsequently spent .
Lesson learnt my tips now stay safely in my pocket !
Total will be down this year, not only because of that but a house move just before Xmas. I needed time off and I'm behind now but really don't care , its no longer about money but my sanity. ;)

Well. Final day today added £18.50. £102.50 in total plus a bottle of plonk. So once again about £100 which it seems to be every single year.
Edited to add ... Nearly all tips are cash but I did get a cheque sent rounded up by £8 and another at the door rounded up by £6. Never get any on line payments made higher though.
-
1141 pounds is on the white broad as the last van as just cashed up here so i will be keeping the cash and writing out a check in the morning for 2400 pounds to h4h been a good year this year for the lads well done them merry xmas everybody

Well done you.
Tell me ... isn't it inviting sexist and racist claims or just asking for trouble to be using a white woman to write the amount of your tips on?
-
£70 ish in total, had a couple tip online which was unexpected.
Last year was £20 so hey we're on the up
-
I doubt more than £50 from 1,300 customers. Tight feckers!
I think you get enough out of them through the year at your prices.
-
£700 between 2 of us .A few bottles of wine, a few boxes of chocolate and mince pies ,oh and 2 Debehams gift cards,£10 each.
I'm only happy to keep my customers regular and paying on time without to much messing about .
Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!
