Imagine how upset they would be if I also said that during that 2 week period we also took several thousand pounds in other payment methods, and that November was our best ever financial month. No doubt that would get a few peoples blood boiling!
But I do love my afternoon gocardless email.......

The only thing that would make me a bit sick with all that turnover is watching the majority of it go on running costs and expenses,..that would break my heart, i begrudge handing over my miniscule tax bill every year nevermind what you must pay out with 11 vans of 800k turnover

To be clear the charge is £150 per hour plus vat with a minimum booking of 3 hours.
This includes.
1. I ask for an email from you before coming down outlining your current position and your goals for the future in your business, plus a list of questions/things you want the most advice on.
2. Meet at my office for the time booked to go through the steps I think you need to take, see how my business runs, go through your email list ect ect. You are welcome to record this meeting. I go into great detail on all aspects of running a bigger business. from vat, employment, equipment, yearly planning, to marketing and so on.
3. Telephone support for the following 12 months. You can call my office to refresh your mind on the things we talked about as much as you like for 12 months after the meeting.

Yep!!! dont I know it. We currently run 9 vans. over 800 and 11 vans are goals for next year.

My goal has always been the same.
Take home over £10K a month AFTER tax and only need to work part time or possibly less. I would like to own a home in the sun and live there for a few months each year. Aside from that I love nice cars and houses and luxury hollidays. Finacial freedom and freedom of time will allow me and my other half to do more of the fun things in life together. A few years down the line I might set up another base and replicate what we already have there in order to double that income. Why? because I enjoy the challenge and I get a lot of satisfaction from running and growing my business. Why not.......
I do the consultation work for fun and because so many people kept calling or emailing my office for it I decided to charge for the experience and knowledge I was giving away.

I thought it would be fun show a silly amount dropping from gocardless in one lump. Turns out it was a bad idea as it confussed a lot of customers as to why it wasnt done on the day of the clean as usual.

hmmmm well I havnt advertised, and I havnt used the forum as a platform. I did not bring up the subject on this thread someone else did. I answered someone elses question about what I charge and whats included. Which is no different than someone asking alex gardiner what a slx 25 costs and whats it made from. If he answered that question he would not be advertising or using the forum as a platform by doing so.
Every person that has paid to see me without exception came to me via the ionic magazine feature I was in last year.

We really dont get many problems at all because I have systems in place for those things.
We now have 86% of our customers on gocardless, it will be 100% over the next 12 months. We probably get 2 or 3 re cleans a week out of 600 cleans. A wrong house was cleaned last week but was the first one of those in months. Gates - every customer gets a text alert the night before, If its still locked the cleaner can use a ladder to go over or just do the front only, (we do reduce the price for this but are considering changing that down the line).
Day to day there is always something to deal with, thats why I employ 2 full time office staff, which leaves me totally free to deal with our equipment and vans, marketing, plans for growth ect. I do not run the day to day operation of the business anymore. lol Im sat at home in my dressing gown right now!

What training? I havnt said anything about training? If your refering to 3 hours people spend with me then that is not training. That is advice and answers to questions, most people I see have 2 or 3 vans on the road already but cant get past that point. They dont need training, they need help with the problems that are preventing them from moving forward.

I haven't said what I earn. The closest to that on this thread was me saying a goal for the future that hasn't happened yet. That was also a response to a question so not really bragging.
Seems to me that the only people who would see that as bragging or sad are the ones earning MODDED all themselves. The reason they would think that is either feeling threatened or jealous. Much easier to bash someone else than do something about making it happen for them.
To answer your question nation wide window cleaning are probably the biggest. They are only commercial. In the residential market who knows.

So we have 4621 customers (how many do you have) and we do around 35,000 cleans a year.
Now let that sink into your head for a moment and you then may realise that 10 or so negative reviews which came from messers (which we all have) are totally meaningless in the big scheme. Which is exactly why your comment was mindless. All you have done there is scan through looking for something to be MODDED about.

Same can be said about northern house prices and that you have it easy.200k dosn't even buy you a decent flat in most parts of the south east so it's understandable people need to charge and earn more.
As for Lee's post I like them and admire his honesty and determination to succeed.

1st things 1st. You have to hand it to him, he has pushed himself and his business through to a stage we could all only dream off.
He sold his house to invest in his own business abilities. That shows conviction and a confidence in himself which i admire..really i do.
Its starting to pay off for him and i think its absolutely marvellous. His posts have made me realise what the big picture can be in business if you really focus yourself and maximise your opportunities. Thank you Lee.
However Lee. You need to be careful now.
If i was you i would just stop posting threads mentioning money period..., or how much you are making. You are a Ltd company we can download your balance sheet at the end if the year anyway if we wanted to.
I say this becouse your posts are indexed on google and you are at risk of your customers finding conversations like this and it could backfire on you.
You should focus any posts on business related matters, customers signed up, expansion etc. As i for one am greatly interested in your progress and will continue to be so.
Please can you try to understand that you are running the risk of alienating yourself and i would hate to see that happen, i really would.

I'm not as successful growing my business as I'm slowly winding down now my mortgage is paid which I managed by myself and value my health as my priority over growing my business. I was successful in defying the doctors and specialists telling me I would never work again, would never have my independence or my health again but I proved them all wrong with sheer stubborn attitude, plenty of determination and positive mentality. Many people have different priorities in life, some is financially stability, others it's family and some it's health. We are all different and each to their own, whatever makes one happy.

Lee, I suggest you take the evening off and calm down. Much of what you highlight as faults in other posters could well be highlighted by other posters towards you.
If you come on a forum - that is inhabited in the main by owner-operators - putting up a thread which can be interpreted as smugly showing off a large sum of income and gloating at your own business prowess then you will - as you stated in a later post - "wind them up."
If you then continue to break the explicit rules of the forum then you lay yourself open to being moderated more heavily. If you have an explicit post to report then do so. If on reflection you are only receiving back a proportionate reaction to what you yourself post then maybe lead the way by conducting yourself on here as the professional business owner you undoubtedly are becoming.
If you believe you have the temperament to be a moderator then email admin and volunteer your services. I believe you are not yet ready for that role. Anyway - the pay isn't commensurate with the hassle that sometimes arises.
You are obviously doing very well in your business. You have no need to justify yourself on here as to its success.

Hello David, think I remember you posting in the past, shame you don't post anymore.
We all use to find it informative with others helping us with their posts when we first came on here many years ago :)
I left the site for a while and when I came back on again I really noticed how few people actually bother to post any more and warned others if they sat on the fence not posting this site would disappear. Thankfully it's slowly getting better.
I get knocked down when I mention things like fitting bissell bars and using constructor brushes and people can't see the benefits of using over bristle rinse bars, that's their choice, I just try to help them see the light but all they see is costs :)
I am open minded and try different things, some work and some don't but unless I'm willing to try new things I will never improve myself and the way i work. Change is necessary sometimes but only if you're not afraid to embrace it.
Wish others who sit on the fence would take the time to share there ideas and thoughts with us all and make this site really interesting again.

There was another thread where he mentioned his profit, and even he conceded it wasn't actually that good in relation to the turnover, it's about getting more and more customers, so you would need to be cheaper to constantly have to fill up the rounds, which costs money.
The fact the business couldn't finance the growth says it all really.
As with anything the reality is different to the theory.
