I'm currently using Gardiner extreme brush and fan jets and rinse on all of the time which I find works well but am interested in what brush jet combinations others are using to rinse on mainly for monthly maintenance cleans .
-
been trying this rinsing on lately with pencils and I gotta be honest its not the best way to get perfect results for me.
I have tried the 100 degree fans but didn't like them either, if nothing else they're just offensively loud for me.
I would like to be able to rinse on but I don't seem to be able to get perfect results with it, some windows are ok but some look dirty in the corners still. even when I really concentrate the flow into the corners there is still spotting.
I like to test these techniques out and did a nursing home this week and went back a day later to do the insides so I can check the results, was not happy at all. It amazes me that I didn't get a complaint, needless to say I went around the outsides again.
Do you go around and check your work after the windows have dried?
-
Yes I've been checking and all monthly cleans that have been checked are fine obviously on first cleans or one offs I will ensure they have more scrub and rinse than a maintenance clean but all in all they are satisfactory when dry.
-
Personally I've learned not to keep going back and checking my work, beyond what is reasonable anyway.
Even when I was trad cleaning I'd occasionally be asked to do insides and was amazed that what looked brilliant outside often looked less so inside and was surprised sometimes that customers never said anything.
I now ask my customers to tell me if they are dissatisfied, and that if they do I'll come back and re-clean them. I want them to be happy. A form of guarantee if you like.
I seldom get called back and if I do I don't make a big issue of it, just try to work together with them to get it right. They usually appreciate the effort and if my customers are happy, then so am I.
Like you alan, I like the combo of xtreme brush and black fans

I have one brush which is dual trimmed and i use a bissel spray bar that ive attached;

Also. As u may know I have a 14inch dual trim with 6 pencil jets, which give a great flow

how do you achieve that flow with the 6 jets?
I have a 14" brush with only 4 jets and the flow still isn't that good, when I put 6 jets in it the flow was really poor.
I run 100m of micro bore onto gardiner's thick yellow pole hose into 4x 2mm jets. I have bought some of them 1.4mm jets but the flow is very "splashy" when turned up.
-
I still say the perfect brush would have 3 jets I have jobs with Windows that are only as wide as the brush, when you go up and down unless you go over both sides of the frame the water doesn’t make contact with the middle part of the glass. It would also reduce the need for a lot of scubbing of really dirty windows with 3 jets wetting the window more initially.
-
I use the big 3mm jets from gardiners myself with a highish flow, I barely ever do a final rinse Unless they’re like a first clean or very dirty.
Don’t seem to use any more water than I would with tiny pencils and there’s less bouncing water off the glass with the thick flow.
I’d say I use more water when I connect the fans up too as they might be giving everything a coating but they don’t seem to allow the water to flow as much the 3mm pencil wave.
I was always a fan man until I started using 3mm jets!
-
Yes same here m & c I tend not to over inspect work I believe that if you try to perfect you technique and use the best tools available it is a case of wash rinse repeat. However on new work or if I've made changes to method or equipment I will increase the inspections to suit.
-
Yes I've always used fans for rinsing on I might try the 3mm pencils when ordering next brushes and see how they compare.

Its a streamline 14inch brush and i use their quick fit jets which I think are 1mm's. I use micro bore hose as well and 6mm gardiner all weather pole hose.
A standard sureflow pump from pure freedom and one of their digi controller which I have on 80

I countersink the red fan jets into extreme hybrid central between the two holes already existing, I find it means no chance of scratching and also when brush get older it will always hold a good fan spray
I do find, maybe I’m wrong or when corrected those that rinse brush on glass seem to have been trad prior to wfp
I’ve rinsed on glass for way over 15 years now and always check results
I find I prefer controller at about 55-70 when by myself when two of us it’s at about 50-55
But each window is different with how higher flow as I have lot of older properties
It’s funny daughters been with me three years now and she saw someone cleaning recently with Pensil jets and rinsing off glass and she was, like what’s he doing she never new any difference or seen it cleaned that way
-
Yes Tony I was trad aswel for about 10 years prior to wfp at first rinsed off then started rinsing on a few years ago tweaked my technique a bit and checked results never looked back really, much prefer rinsing on. My daughter also started for me about three years ago and she loves it and is doing really well a good asset to the business.

3 jets!
like that idea mate, gonna go get me drill and add a jet in the middle of me brush.
-
With 2 jets if you scrub up and down twice on each section you end up scrubbing 6-7 times if you’ve 3 jets with 12-14” brush you’ll be scrubbing each pane on a regular clean no more than 4 times. The reason I say this is because the center of the brush to start off with on the glass is not wet it’s just damp bristles,I’ve never known why they sell a brush with 2 jets I know fans will solve this issue but IMO they are way to messy for me.

tinkered.

Thought about this myself, perhaps I'm a bit silly but thought it would be tricky as on base of brush is socket.
Thought this would make it difficult to fix a jet dead centre of brush.😖

Yeah it was tricky, I just took the socket down a little and put the jet in on a slight angle so it should hit the window in the same spot as the others when close to the window.
One thing I realised when I went out to test it was that the fitting I used is a 6mm X but the pole hose is 8mm so will need to order a 6mm-8mm reducer before I can use it.
-
You could offset 1 fan jet off center so it meant you could still drill through the brush stock if need be,having a fan in the center you shouldn’t get a lot of overspray which I hate with fans.
-
Hi NWH, you good
With fans the overspray is only really eliminated by keeping them on or closer to the glass and staying away top of frame once it’s cleaned other wise your just wasting water and time
One guys who works for me also works someone else who uses pensils and poor fellow forgets,by tuesday he starts overspraying
It’s jsut lenghtens his day until he wakes up and thinks what his doing
I’ll try a third in week and see how it goes be interesting ivean old brushin shed

Rinse on with constructor brushes and gardiner brushes with bissell bars fitted. No problems rinsing on the glass and that's with the overspray bars over the top of the bristles.........all down to technique,

would you say this is faster this way??

On the majority of work it is. Small windows can't really save any time like new builds but large panes of glass really notice a big time saving , using less water and less effort. Does take a while to get use to changing the way you clean windows with it but once familiar it becomes second nature.
The two main differences between a constructor brush and say a Gardiner brush with an overhead bissell bar spray is the constructor brush is heavier but more suitable because of the additional four side jets for reaching into the corners and the Gardiner adapted version is lighter but with only the rinse bar above the stock but work sufficiently. Use the bissell bar on 5 storey work no problems at all.

Cleaned a luxury high appartments today next to the sea and the wind was horrendous. To rinse horizontally would have been a nightmare banging the frames uncontrollably, but with the overhead spray bar fitted above the bristles enabled me to scrub the glass on the way up and rinse straight down from top to bottom moving across the window in the same direction as the wind one brush width at a time with good cleaning results despite 50+mph winds at 35ft which was quite controllable given such strong winds. I want Friday off hence why I was determined to finish the job today regardless of the wind as I've done it before in strong winds rolling off the sea.
