Title: Attendance Bonus Scheme
Post by: mxg on June 16, 2006, 02:54:24 pm

I remember reading on this forum about an "attendance/shift bonus"

As far as I recall it was either xPence per hour per shift, payable monthly. The crucial part though was that if somebody missed a shift for ANY reason including sickness,  or just couldn't be bothered then they lost the ENTIRE month (Presumably approved holiday leave is OK)?. Obviously designed to encourage people to turn in to protect their (say) extra £20 month rather than just forfeiting the individual shift bonus.

I am keen to try this out on a new early morning including weekends contract

So what I would like is

a) confirmation that this is "legal"

b) the official wording that would go in to somebodys contract of employment or equivalent

c) feedback from any body using this or similar schemes to reduce unauthorised absences and the associated hassle that they bring.

Would really appreciate some good feedback on this one.

Thanks in advance

Mick

Hi Mick,

I have used an attendance/performance allowance and still do. Its a good tool. Needs to be included in staff t&c'.

Cheers Mark.
