Title: Microscopic resin particles coming through DI unit.
Post by: Seymour Sunshine on November 23, 2017, 04:00:01 pm
Hiyya Ya'll.

I've just received my 7 litre DI unit and been playing with it on my own windows. I noticed quite a few microscopic particles of resin were getting through onto the glass.

I went out looking for an in-line fuel filter like this:

but couldn't find one. In desperation, I cut up a bit of a dishwashing sponge and shoved it down the outlet hose. That seems to have done the trick and not slowed down the flow significantly.

* Is it normal to get tiny bits of resin coming out of a unit?
* Do they attach strongly to the glass or will they drop off in time?

I don't really want to be relying on bits of washing up sponge, but at least it seems to be working to filter the bits out. Now the glass is drying absolutely spotless.

I’ve found over the years of using DI vessels overtime they do wear away as tneresinmibes and around and eventually wears the plastic

I’ve put online filters to protect from this happening

Check that the riser tube is seated properly in the head of the vessel, there is also a gauze/screen at the bottom of the riser tube. Check it is bonded correctly so that no resin can get through it.

You should never get resin coming out of the vessel.

have you got it connected up right?(ie the" in "and " out" the right way round?)

ive never experienced any resin on the glass and ive been DI only for nearly 8 years(still using the same DI vessels too!)
