will yall be giving out Christmas cards to your customers this year??
pros n cons?
Since ive gone wfp i dont seem to pick up much tips. I think its down to a couple of reasons, the first being that they dont like my price increases and they think they pay enough!! This links into my 2nd thought, that they think they pay enough for the short (or shorter) time that im there compared to how long i was there when trad cleaning!
So im not expecting alot, plus i have alot who pay online or via go cardless so they will only pay what they need to...
Its great how wfp speeds up production and modern technolgy via smart phones etc enables us to get paid quicker actually takes away customer interaction which sometimes hinders us rather than helps. As in it cuts loyalties a little as your no longer a face to them but a service and a bill to them!
-
but will you be giving out cards..??
I mean. Tips are great but continued custom is worth more.
-
Il be giving cards , not for tips but to show appreciation to my custards
-
I don't give out cards,if I get tips I get tips,if I don't,I don't,if I got a card from the postman or milkman is think they're after something, but that's me being paranoid.

ive never given a card out to a customer in 24 years of window cleaning and my tips are usually around the £450-£500 mark every year.i also very rarely lose a customer.if i do its usually because they move or die.

So you'd give them out to receive tips?
That'd be my reason for not doing it. It'd feel like I was rattling a tin in front of them.
They know it's Christmas and tip if they want to.
I only usually thank customers for their custom if they are moving or cancelling with good reason.

Nope, thats not what im saying.
But same as you, ive not handed cards out in all the years ive been self employed and i dont intend on suddenly starting up doing so as my customers will certainly take it that im begging for tips! I have a handful who regularly give a card with a tip in and it normally falls into one of 3 types;
Business people and they do it because its ingrained, they get an xmass bonus or they give the xmass bonus.
2nd type very similar to the first, the well off class, who give it to keep up appearances and its the done thing!
3rd the little old dears who give because they want to as part of the seasons greatings.
The rest give tips without the need of a card.

I do not give out cards.
I tell the custy that the money I would have spent on cards (about £150), I donate to a charity, and I do.

I wear a Santa hat whilst cleaning the week before...still don't get that many tips....20 years ago just about everybody used to drop you a couple of quid to "get yourself a pint lad" but few and far between now.

Yep, its sad how things change over time and i cant see how its connected to the economy when its only a couple of quid, lol! Same price as a chocolate bar in some places.
Lol it was a good indication of the type of customers you had though. I had the odd customer who would give me a tin of fosters or a couple of tins of carling as a tip!
(Yep waiting for back lash)

I wonder who will bite this time😂

if i sent xmas cards to all my customers id have to send 350+ cards out!i have trouble sending cards out to family and friends.most of the time i dont bother and just buy them a cheesy/jokey present.
none of us need presents at xmas.all of us are very well off materially.id rather not give any presents out to family and friends and donate to charity instead but i still always buy them something just because i feel pressured into it. ::)roll

I don't give cards - never have.
My tips reduced drastically when I stopped going back to collect, quite a few years ago.
So from the start of December, I now work with a collection tin hung around my neck.
