Title: hose reel idea for trolley?? yes/no
Post by: nathankaye on September 14, 2017, 10:54:19 am
Aldi from 24 sep are selling an air hose retractable 10m reel and this got me thinking!!  It looks small and compact a bit like a washing line one in size and style. So it would be easy to fit to the trolley.
Now 10m isnt great but its given me the idea and so now im looking into different companies for 20m lengths or greater or seeing if they just sell the reel?!

Has anybody else gone down this path before? Perhaps using one on their trolley??
If so is it a good idea???    Whats peoples take on this

i dont know how you can be bothered messing about with a trolley.i very rarely use my backpack now unless i really cant reel any hose to a job.using a van mount is just easier 9 times out of 10.

I agree, but like today i do house after house on most streets but today for some reason very little places to park. So had to use the trolley but since its upgrade it works better than the van mount for pressure/flow. So unlike the joy of a backpack where its a much slower rinse compared to van, its a delight to get this one out. Plus a quick release n walk back to van for a quick refill its not that bad for moments when i need to.
But a hose reel would be great on it rather than trailing 20m of hose with me or to wrap up after each job...

ive got a gardiner v3 backpack and its no different than using the van mount flow wise( if i want it high )however i usually have a lower flow due to having limited water.

I made a trolley and I hate using the thing. I hate backpack jobs as well.

I reckon mine only gets used 3-4 times a months now as I don't really take work on where there is no parking or poor access.

Backpack on trolley is bar far the simplest way to go if you must. I don't have a problem with flow either I find full wack about the same as full wack on the van. The backpack is 4lpm the van is 5.5lpm but I'll bet the flow at the brush head is very similar

I use a spray bar on my trolley setup which on a normal trolley isnt great. Also as you know i have 6 jets on my other brush which again a normal trolley couldnt cope with!!
Now i can choose which brush to use or if one breaks like it did today.....gooseneck valve control broke so had to switch brush to 6 jets and totally amazed myself with how the trolley coped.
Normally i only use the trolley perhaps less than 5 times in a month, sometimes non at all. But if a street for whatever reason suddenly becomes congested and i cant park up, im not gonna sack that work off for the day!!
