I've had one or two like this. Can't see hubby cleaning the windows TBH. At least you now have another slot for a better customer.

I think what she's trying to say is somebody has lost their job and they can no longer afford you, I wouldn't be reluctant to
take her back if I had room with a view to dump if it happened again, either way wish her all the best and get on with your day.

Yes I guess you'll be too busy when they come crawling back. 'Do one' comes to mind but in a polite way.

They own  several houses which they rent out and have just sold 2 new build houses.  They arent short of money to be not able to afford 15 a month.  However the hubby was in last time i cleaned them!!
Im sure youve all come across this, that when the feller finds out how much their partner pays to clean windows, they often say get rid and that they will clean them instead.......never happens but they dont like the idea of paying more than a couple of quid for wetting glass

We have had a good customer cancel as they now have a lazy son who has just finished school and he has been given the job.

Do Moms windows and are lovely family. No issue with them and if they call me back at a later time then that's ok.

I used to give people a second chance and i would certainly charge more the 2nd time round. For some it works, they realise its a mistake to let a good worker go for either a couple of quid cheaper feller down the road or to let a family member start cleaning them. They sometimes end up being the best customer as they dont make the same mistake twice but then there is the other type who merit the saying "a leopard cant change its spots"
Quite frankly im at the point where i dont mind new work as some of my older customers are getting alot older now (you know what i mean) but do i really want to replace (in time) good loyal work for messers..........i dont think so

It's usually just a fob off when they no longer want them cleaning but can't just say it how it is.

I could show you a dozen texts where freshly canvassed work has said we've changed our mind husband says he will do them instead.

If course he will love  ::)roll
You mean you just don't want then doing

As if the husband all of a sudden has decided after years he's going to start cleaning the windows. Likely

Maybe they're not as busy as they used to be and the ol' fella has decided he wants to give it a go.

Just imagine, a window cleaner assuming a customer is lying to them..

i had the same the other month nathan.£40 job.shes always been a good customer and once said im the best window cleaner she d ever had.made me brews/biccies etc if she had time.her husband runs a very large plumbing business so i think their not short of a few quid. ::)roll

personally i think its because i turned up on a very wet day (as she cancelled 2 days later) but ill never know for sure.could of been undercut etc who knows?

....next customer please!! ;D

i would take her back on though if she gets in touch no problem as it was an easy 40 min job and she always paid me by BACS on the same day. :)

I had more or less the same txt from a lovely couple, always left a pack of chocy biccies and two twixes for us with the money.

At the time i did wander if we had done something offensive but forgot about quickly as work was coming in.

6 months she called up and starting ranting how her husband had promised to do them but"HAS DONE NOTHING" would we come back please? Well of course, we do the lady 2 doors down and have always used this particular drive for parking so now we got our parking space back, along with customer biccies and all.

In one of my working areas, I put the prices up 50p and £1 ,as its been about 4 years since my last increase.
Last time round I told everyone, or wrote it on the note that i leave for gold that aren't in, about the price increase.
Been doing  this large farmhouse for about 4 years,, £15 every 6 weeks, wrote on the ticket, £1 price increase from next visit, went to collect at the end of the week, and got "we'll just mange ourselves now thank you."
i can imagine the husband saying,"bloody window cleaner, putting his price up, stuff that ,I'll do the buggggers myself".
Sits back and waits for the phone to ring just before Christmas.  NO, sorry ,too busy now.

Then there's the other ones, "just leave mine for the winter, come back in the spring!"
They get told, if they want to stop for the winter, that's fine, but they will have to find someone else in the spring, as I won't be back.
Mu bills don't stop just because the weather is a bit naff, we would all like to not work during the cold season,  If only......

As your a mere window cleaner, the husband thinks your not allowed to charge £15. For 15 mins work, hence you have Been sacked
I had the same recently
Customers don't see the overall picture that you are running a business,£15 for 15 mins work, doesn't mean your earning £60 and hour (well not every hour lol). Running costs have to be taken into consideration ,no holiday pay no sick pay etc
Customers view us at the bottom of the food chain,as Being  a cleaner
That's got that off my chest

I know!!
Sometimes i feel the need to educate them but at the same time i dont want them to know how much us glass lickers can make
 ;D

That is so true!! Only last week, I ws talking tour local window cleaner, he said the same thing. To some folk , you're just a nobody, a doley doing it for extra dosh, or just for beer money.
They don't think, that its your living, it pays your bills etc.
