I appreciate many have different ideas on trickle vents but i understand the majority stay well clear of them.
(Oh no hes done another vid!! 😂 work harder n smarter n you too may have breaks whilst your working)
Heres a little vid for ones who are interested and a quick one showing results.

I only do them on the first clean.
From then on all downstairs ones get wiped with a microfibre then clean rest of window as normal. Upstairs ones just miss them out you can't see em...
I'll only clean them rarely again when they look dirty which may be a year after

ive never had a problem with trickle vents.when i first switched to WFP everybody on here kept saying they can cause dirty runs etc but ive never found that to be the case.

Some do and some don't, I clean windows where the vent is on the bottom of the opener ( half way down the window) so you have no choice but to soak them, for obvious reasons they are well sealed but even if they weren't the vents sit far enough out
so that if they where to leak water it wouldn't drip onto the glass.
Personally I don't put water near vents even though I know there are some on my round that I could probably get away with,
a quick rub with a damp microfiber over the brush guarantees quality needed or not.
Then like yourself I'm a price over numbers man.
-
By doing the initial deep clean, it means im not concerned if i splash water on them or not as some seem to have mentioned over the years on this issue. It also means that when i clean over the frames on maintenance cleans im not scared of the vents etc etc. As seen in the dried/drying window the quality is there. But also it helps with speed as in not needing to do a seperate wipe with microfibre cloths etc

That looks a decent brush your using in the video Nathan, what make is that?

What brush is that Nathan

I find i can wipe the vents and top frame with a microfibre just as quick as cleaning them and rinsing.
Infact i do this with a lot of top frames as i find 90% of wfp problems come from top frames and seals, if i can avoid putting water on them all for the better.

Using these quick connect jets (i personally use 6 jets)

(In addition, because its 14inch, these small windows which the odd house may have.....your able to clean frame and glass in one go. Another small way in which it speeds your productivity up)

That's quite a spray for 6 jets

yep i do the same adam on problem ground floor windows.its the rubber seals that can cause the problems.

388g brush on the end of your pole(probably 400g with the extra pencil jets)?i guess you havent got a lot of awkward windows to clean on your round then mate.thats way too heavy for a regular brush IMO.your slx must be nearly snapping at full stretch over a conny/extension.

After lugging around extra tall ladders (not the flimbsy H frame type either) for 13yrs on my work and carrying 25 ltrs of water in a bucket in the other hand.......using this brush n pole is light as a feather for me!
granted its not as light as some of the gardiner brushes but they are that light i could launch them into space 😂
Yep i have plent of 2 storey windows to clean, over conservatories, in between juliet balconies and windows at arkward angles and i can manage all of them.
For me this has been the best brush ive had so far.

I've just slapped an extreme brush on my slx and the difference is huge. It's like using a wand I love it.
Be interesting to see how it compares to your 20 jetter Nathan.

It wont, a lot of us started out using heavy brushes because there was nothing else but thanks to Mr G that's no longer the case,
some have issues with extreme brushes not lasting but Iv never had that problem.
Nathan seems to be one of these guys who thinks taking three steps back to move one step forward is the way to go.

And yet im cleaning a good number of houses a day dispite a small weight on the end of a pole which some people cant handle 😕😕 not to mentioned ive not worked this week since yesterday.
But then lets look at mobile phones that started like bricks, went small and now due to further advances are slim but large again!!
Funny how fickle markets can be.
Yet i know what works best for me since ive tried quite alot of different brushes to find the ones that suit me, dispite the weight. But like i said, try carrying all my trad equipment i used to carry. You know those days where you park the once and walk your rounds carrying your equipment on your shoulders. Or atleast us who did trad work b4 wfp, so ive got the upper body strength for it not to cause any kind of a problem.

You've more upper body strength than most because you were trad before..? I see....
The advancing technology argument you use is balls mate, advancing technology in our industry means lighter equipment; how does a mobile phones technological advances even compare??
The lightness has nothing to do with how much upper body strength you might think you have, it's just about making your days easier. I've got a 35ft brodex in the garage, using it as a RSJ. If you want to see how manly you are, you're more than welcome to have it!! Brodex pole, bayersan etc... I've used them all, you get used to them and can clean just as much with them. My days just easier using an slx
Appreciate the fact your making videos you think help people, fair play to you...but don't make up balls because you feel the need to justify them
-
Don't you know that lifting 25 ltrs of water mixed with pie , mash and a beer at dinner gives you enormous upper body strength ;D
-
im a 6ft 2in bodybuilder weighing 17 stone but the heaviest brush i use is a standard SL on some work (at around 270g and that feels like a brick if used horizontally!) ;D.it also puts unnecessary strain on the pole as well as your arms/shoulders/back.
just imagine going back to using a vikan brush for all your work(for those that remember them!) ;Dthey were around 400g-450g in weight.
-
Ok maybe i should explain my comment a little more.
A lot of comments on the brush i use is about the weight. The weight for me isnt a problem, nor for the pole. Its not like every house i do i have an arkward angled etc to clean, so for the odd ones i have i (still) dont mind it. Haha it has nothing to do with being manly 😂
The mobile phone example was how the market has gone full circle more than any reference to technology advancement. As it was in answer of taking 3 steps back for one step forward. At shorter distances (as in not third storey n higher scenarios) i find a heavier brush at the end of a lite pole is beneficial and i wont be on my own with that thinking. But yes its not as cumbersome as the red bricks of vikan 😂
Which for some reason purefreedom still sells 😕
Body building reference.....body building is for specific muscles and with specific targets in mind, ie strength training compared with endurance training. Ive seen bodybuilders who struggle to hold a normal weight at arms length for a small period of time (albeit some are pumped up on steroids but thats a completely different story altogether) and others because theyve trained for that sudden burst of power/strength compared to endurance. So being a body builder plays only a small part. My reference to carrying ladders etc is im used to carrying weight on shoulders and with my arms up......so holding my pole out to the sides with what is being referred to as an heavy brush isnt so heavy for me in these scenarios because im used to it for various reasons.

Nathan your knowing very little about bodybuilding!
Holding a weight for a period of time is called a static contraction and is utilized in bodybuilding for the development of strength.
Bodybuilders are not strength oriented...but....by lifting weights to build muscle strength is a by product.
Now I'm no strong man contender by any means... but... l am much stronger than most people because l have been lifting weights for years. I'm 6'3 but unlike daz im only 14st but i can bench 1.5x my weight deadlift 2x my weight and overhead press 1.2x my weight, l can curl 0.7 x my weight for 5 reps. And l can throw a pole around all day, but l would prefer a lighter pole for the awkward jobs for accuracy etc.
l do see some merit to a heavier brush for scrubbing power.
I also was trad for 2 years prior to wfp and l can contribute "0" of that to my current levels of strength.
As you like to try things out (tip hat) maybe you should try a few years in the gym before passing comment upon the topic.
-
I do miss the gym thats for sure! Ive spent many a years in them and had multi gym at home etc etc.
But my life in recent years have taken another path.....but i do miss going. The only time i can fit the gym in now is 6am and my insomnia means im hitting the pillow at 4am and sadly i rarely see 6am at the mo.
But yes there are many types who go to the gym and many techniques also, but not all target the muscle groupss that they should. Ive seen gym goers help a friend whos a mechanic. They had to hold something at head height for 5/maybe ten mins,,,,,,my friend the mechanic did so easily whilst the gym goer was suffering badly.

Hello Nathan, two questions for you:
Q.1 Where did you get the four way connections for the pole hose to the jets?
Q.2 Do the bristles flare outwards on the brush or are they parallel to the stock of the brush?
What's your overall opinion on this brush for first cleans on windows that are filthy with black frames, used the first version of this brush with parallel bristles, cleaned dirty windows very good, stock was heavy but could live with it for first cleans as less effort cleaning but couldn't live with straight bristles as I prefer the flare for reaching awkward corners with less effort. My two favourite brushes are Reach-it for normal houses as best scrubbing with full rinse above and on side of brush which saves a lot of time and effort scrubbing and rinsing and Gardiners's extreme wide brush for 3 & 4 storey work as prefer lightness of brush from 30ft upwards as it's the lightest and okay for easy maintenance cleans. Tried using Reach-it brush for high work on extreme poles but it's too heavy for high work with a week pole but ok with stronger super max pole but don't like using heavier poles if I can help it.

Ive used this company many a times for my push fit connections. Good price and delivery times are good.
Theres not much flare with the brush, but for me this is what i like.
I use the brush on leaded windows with ni damage to the lead. Brilliant for first cleans (tho ive only used it with hot water). Heres a vid i did for my facebook business page (copied to u tube just on this link)

Cleaned with just the brush n hot water.
I also rinse on the glass with this brush ok as well

I would say a lot of gym goers have no clue as to what theyre doing, not all though.
In my last job l used to travel a lot and would find the nearest gym and go on my lunch break, l believe you can always "fit" the gym in. Maybe you could swap your carverys for a workout? Imagine the impact that would have on your physique and health?
It may even help with your sleep issues, l can remember my amatuer kickboxing days, after a good sess l would sleep like a baby.
Sleep is vital to our health, as is staying in shape! Look at your waist to height ratio and that will tell you a lot about what you can expect health wise as you age( diabetes, heart disease, hormonal imbalance, etc etc ).. anything above 50% and its at risk! I lost over a stone this year and bought my waist to height ratio down to 45%. I feel loads better for it too, bags more energy.
We aint getting younger mate, look after your body its the only you'll ever get. It may just last a bit longer.

Interesting points.
Just looked at my ratio and its 49% so room for improvement. Guess im gonna convert my loft.
Aint gonna go on a lunch break......the carvery treat of mine is once a month guys! But doing a good workout then shower n getting work uniform back on is gonna take upto 2 min from breaking from work to getting back to work. I cant spare my day offs as thats family time responsiblities (home schooling stuff).
Just got to convince mrs i need some space bk in house.
Lol i think this thread is a little of track now though.
