Hi guys wots you're opinion on these 2 vans . I have 4 to 5 k to spend and I'm not sure which one to go for . My worry is reliability with the vivaro and rust with the transit . For the money should be able to get a 10 plate with about 70 to 90 k on the clock for either one . Cheers

transit all the way , make sure you buy a good one , with history and that's been limited , you should be replacing it before it rots away we get rid of our every four years (when buying low milage second hand ones) or when they hit 150k which ever comes first , stop away from ex post office ones and any that's got orange lights in each corner ,
260s are ok but carry very little , so you want a 280 up over , six speed a must , shop about or go the sales , mk7s are cheap at the moment as the trade as fell out with them due to wanting the new shape custom

save your 4 or 5 grand and lease/buy a brand new van.i love mine.i should of done it years ago instead of messing around with old vans.
1.it looks more professional(esp after having it sign written)
2.you feel more confident charging higher prices.
3.no MOTS for 3 or 4 years.
4.no breakdowns/downtime/hassle due to van repairs.
5.tax deductable(just over £200 a month inclu VAT)
6.comfort (if you get a top spec van with heated drivers seat, air con, heated windscreen/wing mirrors etc)
7.no need to waterproof van floor as most vans come with plastic load liner as standard.
i put up my prices in april which easily covers my monthly van rental(an extra £300+ a month for cleaning the same work)plus ive picked up some more good paying jobs lately plus add ons here and there.
i have a connect L2 240(120ps)limited.just the right size for a sole trader with a 500L tank.

Cheers guys I think we will go for the transit . Defaniatly don't have the money for a brand new van yet as we haven't even started yet which is we are looking at second hand vans but one hundred percent in a couple off years time off things are going well we will infest in a second van which will be brand new or almost new .
-
i would never touch a vauxhall/renault ever again esp. that age of van
transit been excellent well built does the job - But do consider the Boxer/relay/Scudo - ours was a few grand less than the equivilent tranny but has been superb

Having had a couple of older vans give me no end of trouble I too would rather finance a newer vehicle nowadays.

Transits are the quickest to get broken into and stolen more often
-
Thats why i went Fiat , who steals them ??? ;D

How many miles on the clock ? And wot systeam do you have .
For sale a 2011 Ford Transit 280 SWB asking £6000 for it
Plymouth based
Mileage 77038
Last serviced in 19th February 2016
MOT Till 23rd March 2018
Recently had a new Turbo fitted and a new No 1 injector
Body work has minor dents and scuffs.
System is a 650L delivery only twin DI setup.
Currently setup as a one man system but can be used as 2 man system by putting in another 2 DIs and replacing the 2nd pump as it don’t work! Both controllers work fine. There is 2 leisure batteries with a split relay on the main van battery (which is brand new)
Line x flooring, outside ports for filling and connecting hose reels, Tank has a shut of valve so you will never flood your van! Pole rack in the back and A Van Guard roller roof rack.
Diesel Thermo 90s Heater
This does not work as needs a new Combustion Tube and some wiring re done.
It was serviced on the 06-01-17 then a couple of weeks later the header tank and temp sensor were replaced
Its done 4000hrs
Parts can be found online and if your good at tinkering should be an easy fix. (so I’ve been told)
