hi all can u use a normal pump as a booster pump ie a shurflo pump 100 psi thanks andy
Mod note: I have changed the heading as you had it as "custom made tanks" and folk may have thought you posted the same thing twice.

The reason why the most popular one is an Aquetec pump is that once the pressure builds up too much an inbuilt pressure relief valve bleeds the excess off. The pump continues to run. A Shurflo pump wil cut in and out and the pressure switch will burn out in no time. Its not designed for use as a booster.

I used to use a sure flow 150 psi , Years ago on a van mount with a 40/40 as a boaster pump had good results

I also use a diaghram pump regulated to 70psi for domestic RO's that ive been using for about 17 months now with absolutely no problems.
It gets used about once or twice a week to either top up my ibc tank or to fill it up and the pump is running anywhere from 12 - 24 hrs whilst doing so.
